There are hikers, runners, dog walkers, kids, parents, bikes -- you name it. Just be careful and keep your eyes out. Still one of my favorite rides to do with some of the most FUN peeps eevvvaaarrr!

Keep swearing I'm gonna try it on the beach cruiser, but will be hard to keep the beer in the basket on some of the downhills....hhhmm, seriously need to bring it out - maybe on a vintage bike day.

Thanks to all that helped this Floop virgin..special thanks to Donnie and Dino and Austin..good group of guys. I thought I was in decent shape but I was sucking in all the oxygen around me..those hills are no joke..bypassed Cardiac and that one crazy short steep one..sheez just walking the bike up I was sucking wind. Almost got split in half at the bottom of the Cardiac bypass route..I wanted to go left, bike wanted to go right..right in front of a sign..must not underestimate gravity throughout the Floop.

For a beginner, you will get tested..no doubt..being water and a heathy set of lungs..and watch your speed..it builds up quick! It's a god balanced ride and mellows out toward the end..look forward to that.

Anyway, look forward to my next ride at the Floop.

Addendum: Bring a helmet (I did)..everyone wears one. If you have a camelback thingie that's good, but there are plenty of stops to hydrate..unless you are in a groove..but as a newb I welcomed the stops to suck wind and drink agua. I wore a regular backpack and threw in an extra tube, allen wrench, hand pump, patch kit, water. There's a restroom in the middle of the ride, but there seems to be enough coverage if you need to go during the ride. I would add (again)..watch your speed. I just started, so all I wore was a t-shirt and some cargo shorts and running shoes..it was plenty.

I busted your balls a bit, but I'm glad to see that you made it out and had a good time. It's definitely tougher than it looks. Eventually, if you keep at it, you'll nail all of those hills and start taking on tougher rides. One thought, I've known a few riders who got too confident after a only few rides, started going faster downhill, and then crashed pretty bad. In fact, one of them wrecked badly at the Fully Loop on the downhill section before the lake. Just take it easy and have fun. That's what matters.

..a honest goal would be the day I can finish FLoop without walking up any of the hills, will be the day I can honestly think about moving forward/upgrading..I would like to get bigger pedals as I slipped off a few times on teh plastic ones right now.

Well, I got some lock on grips that you can have. I know you were complaining about your current ones slipping. I'll likely have some pedals for sale, for cheap, shortly. I'm just waiting for a warranty replacement one to arrive. :bang:

i actually rode Fully loop for the first time on the 4th for a night ride. Interesting loop to say the least. Got to the bottom and saw a smashed up silver civic parked in a field adjacent to a parking lot. Figured someone just dumped the car there til I saw some guy sleeping in it.

What kind of shoes are you using? I find that using a flat skate shoe works best.

I ate it on that last downhill just before finishing the loop a couple of weeks ago . I was trying to get a better time on strava but got caught in a rut and my tire turned so fast that I flew in the air. I tried to stop my fall with my hands but landed on my shoulder first and then on my helmet and ended up scraping my chin, chest and elbow as I rolled down the hill. They thought I broke my shoulder because I couldn't raise my arm, but I'm glad that I didn't, it just took some time to heal,my bruises are finally gone!. Some good people on STR helped me back to my buddys car, I don't know one of thier names,(aqua colored Yeti Bike I think?) but thank you guys for helping me out!
