Went OTB at Marshall Canyon on 9/19 and shattered the distal end of my radius. Had surgery two days go, and am now the proud owner of two new titanium plates. The only blessing is that it could've been worse. I distinctly remember myself about to headbutt a rock, and thinking it was game over. Luckily, my helmet took the full brunt of it. It ended up with a big dent, and cracked all the way through. My noggin was no worse for the wear though. I can't wait to get back on my bike though.
Really cool image, how did they do that? Would've been neat to see something like that when I broke my arm.
That's a CT scan. My surgeon ordered it because the original X-ray wasn't good enough to see the full extent of the injuries. In the X-ray, all you can see is that large piece in the middle sticking out. It didn't show the hole that got punched through the top of my radius from my wrist bones smashing into it, or the smashed up pieces around the head. They also gave me a CD with image slices of my wrist from different angles. You could really see the damage done.
Don't want to seem insensitive to your pain but what part of the trail did you eat it on? Get well soon and get back on the pony....yehaw
CT scan... cool technology. I remember now, my doc said they couldn't do a CT scan on me because of the steel hardware in my arm. But my break was pretty obvious. Heal up
Very impressive first post... That CT Scan looks kinda' cool... 8-[ Hope you make a speedy recovery! Oh yeah... :welcome: to the family!
:bang: ..wow that ct scan awesome.sucks man,i converted over from moto thinking if i go easy i wont be in the same boats i been in for the last 10 years.but this rider down forum is opening my eyes.. i find things get sketch reak quick on tech terrain.how gnarly were you getting? otb and still shattered radius..did you get your feet back under you after goin over.eject?
i'm not sure what you mean, but i rode my bike down a couple of miles after the accident. After that, I rode my stick shift car to urgent care, then back home to Ladera Ranch. Definitely not fun with a broken wrist.
He was doing a short steep decent that not too many people know about because it's easily bypassed using the fire trail. He got passed the first tech drop and then it looked like he gathered a bit too much speed and went off the trail and hit a bush that tossed him otb. He then went rolling down the rest of the trail and was able to gather himself after coming to a stop. I would have to say my boy is a trooper riding back with his wrist the way it was!
OK...I guess my wife lied to me. One plate, not two. Swelling's way down, and I've been off the prescription pain meds for a couple of days now.
