Thinking of upgrading my wheels. Looking to go a bit lighter and also convert to tubeless. I currently have a set of Fulcrum Red Metal 10s on now. Hey work, but are heavy, not tubeless. I was looking at the EA90s and spec wise, look like they'ed fit the bill. Anyone riding them? Thoughts, pros or cons? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I was thinking the same thing. You can get the pair (2013 model) for $510 this weekend from price point. Edit - Looks like they ran out of the 142mm through axle rear.
Easton hubs are known for having issues. The rims are pretty good. I would suggest building a wheelset at your local shop with some good hubs and DT spokes.
What issues do you speak of? The reviews I've read said that since the 2013 model year hub issues have been resolved. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I've been running the Easton Havoc UST wheels on my 26 Trail/AM bike for about a year. They have the same "M1" hub design as the EA90 XC I believe. I've had zero problems with them. I did get the axle update kit (some early ones had issues with the bearing preload loosening). But I have never installed the kit and never had a problem with loosening. The wheels for sale now may already have the updated axle adjuster installed. :?: It is possible to convert the hubs from 135QR to 142x12. Easton doesn't have a "kit" but just need to order the correct axle and two end caps. Finding them can be a problem, I called Easton direct. Easton has also been fairly responsive to e-mail inquiries for me.
My riding buddy has been through 4 sets of bearings and is on his third axle on his 2014 havoc wheels. The hubs are garbage.
I have ea 90xc for over a year. Before that had a pair of xc ones for 5 years. I ride xc and trail. I like em, never had a problem. Light fast strong. I weight 180 fully geared
I have some Stans Crests with Hope Pro 2 evo hubs for sale. I bought those over the eastons because of the hub issues, but now have Reynolds carbon wheels.
