If you aren't taping/watching, you missed something special today. Froome & Contador (and others) attacking non stop for the last 5 Ks. Best road racing I've seen in some time.
Wish i would of seen them racing and Yesterdays TT was great... However, the last 2 or 3 laps of the Giro d'Italy were great also. Giant Took that to the Bank = )
About time we saw some attacking. Don't care much for Contador but he makes cycling more interesting.
Now that was a beating. I don't like Contador at all, and truly enjoyed seeing CF just repeatedly bludgeon him with attack after attack all the way up that mountainside to the finish. What a savage hammering... after pulling all that time, to that wheelsucker, I thought for sure Froome was going to fade... man I jumped right out of my seat and spilled my beverage. Fantastic! Thx for the heads up.
I watched that last climb. My impression was that I haven't seen prolonged and repeated attacks like that since.... well, since everyone was doped to the gills. Personally, I don't care for either one of these guys (CF and AC). I was really excited to see Talansky up front with the big players and was hoping he could pull it off.
The breakaways are paying off. It is boring to me when the peloton seems to always catch the brave that hammer out in front. To me Wiggins made for some boring racing.
I agree. This has a lot to do with course selection by race organizers. You have to get the mix right between climbing and flat... and even where the major climbs fall within a stage... earlier or later. A good course will create exciting racing. This is why, for me, the US Cycling Challenge (Colorado Stage Race) is virtually un-watchable. For the life of me I can't see how it is even possible to put together such a relatively flat series of stages in a state whose defining feature is the Rocky F'ing Mountains!
