I will be riding CHSp tomorrow. I will be starting at 7am. The rout will be telegraph to south ridge to bovine to 4 corners, then Raptor ridge to Bane Canyon to Lower Aliso to the golf course the back up Skully Ridge to Bobcat Ridge down to Bane and back to 4 corners via telegraph. Planning on getting done about 1030 as I need to get to Buena Park bikes by 11.
Just be prepared....Bane Ridge and Scully Ridge are nearly impassible due to the Russian Thistle. It is nearly 6' tall in some sections....and some sections you can't even see the trail or road.
Awe you must be referring to this Russian Thistle which I cleared out on Friday in anticipation for this Sunday ride...
As Mbnbikej predicted they had returned. As I go onto raptor ridge it started getting gusty. Skully wasn't bad, i was able to maneuver around the tumbleweeds until I got to brush canyon it had filled back in you couldnt even see where the trail went. I didn't have time to clear it again so i just went down brush back and back out 28 miles 4100ft. I think I can get it to 30 and 5k with full skully ridge
I was gonna head over there from Blackstar/Coal Canyon, but the winds had me rethink that idea. 30 and 5k are totally doable. When I enter through the back of the park(Green River) and start up Scully down Brush Canyon, up Southridge to Telegraph, to 4 Corners, Bovinian to Southridge, down Ditmer, up Telegraph, Raptor to Faultline, Lower Aliso back to Scully....is 30 miles.....elevation is somewhere around 5k'. When it is cleared, you can add in Sidewinder to Bane Ridge for more elevation. Also add in Sycamore to Northridge to 4 Corners.
CHSP claims they have 60 miles of trails, and I've built a 40 mile route in Google Maps with Four Corners being they only repeat. No idea about elevation or how long it would take.
I made it before I was aware you could save them, so I only have a print out. I'll rebuild it, save it, and post it here.
some good info here: http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/showthread.php?t=66683&page=2&highlight=Chino
When building your super route keep in mind that there are a few closed trails:North Ridge is closed at the west end where meets with Telegraph Canyon (you can still take Sycamore up to it)Bane Canyon Road is closed until "sometime in 2015"Easy Street, Tilman Trail, and the "Hills for Everyone" trails are NEVER open to mountain bikesGoogle Maps shows that the "Powerline" and "Long way around" trails connect. They do not, both are gated, and cross private property (the PDF map (below) shows that.http://www.parks.ca.gov/pages/648/files/ChinoHillsMap2012.pdf
I thought Hills For Everyone was open to bikes. I knew about North Ridge and Bane. Google Maps is not the most reliable for accurate info about access, but it's fun to build routes and then see if I can ride them.
