I'd say if you don't know about this trail, you shouldn't go ride it. Chances are you'll be walking it and just a danger to yourself. You are better off heading out Ortega and dropping into Elsinore.

On the illegal argument, there are 5-6 trails that are ridden in that area and I feel about half of them should be open to the public but the trail in question here should never be opened to the public. It's not rideable by most.

You guys are pulling me out of moderation hibernation for this? Please do not mention trail names in your posts if they're not authorized trails. Thanks.

The trail that I believe Sean is talking about actually had help blowing up because of a a huge push from the peeps here on STR. There were countless threads about this trail at the time. There was a thread documenting on how someone actually spent there vacation there. I've been riding that trail for over 20 years and during that time of over exposure that trail went through some serious changes. The Freds would go up there and just start shoveling, building trash. Trail features that were there for years like a 3' drop off destroyed for an ill conceived landing for a ladder.

BTW, The trail in the picture in question is not the trail that sounds like "Colonic's". It's it's much more gnarly, high penalty for failure sibling.

Different trail but close by. I have found more Laguna trails behind my house in South Laguna that i did not know where there, have been there for years and get very little use because they are not talked about. The trail in the pic gets very little use because few can ride it.

    Just a general comment..

I think there's a place for legal trails that are way beyond most of our abilities. Ski areas have double black diamond (and beyond) runs, surfers ride unimaginable waves and rock climbers and mountaineers have long been pushing the limits of human ability. Guidebooks and signage can warn people about the risk level, and hard core and pro riders will have trails to test themselves on.

Apparently there is great harm. Several of the posts in this thread have been arbitrarily deleted. Don't even hint to an illegal trail. Hell, don't mention Orange County at all cause one may ride a trail in a park that is adjacent to a road that leads to a causeway that is within 5 miles of an illegal trail. Cheese-and-rice there are some uptight tools here. Better close the thread now so we may abort any more troublesome discussions. I'm gonna hang up my bike and stare at the walls fearing if I mention any illegal trails I may be sent to the cornfield.

Ok everyone, seems every time this sort of topic comes up, we have the same argument even though the guidelines about posting illegal trails and why post or threads get deleted have been here since day 1.

This is the 1st and last time I'll moderate this thread and I'm done.
