Well , cross Dickey's and Spandex trails off the list. USFS destroyed them, just like Pirates. Dickey's was one of my favs and will be missed. Wonder what's next ?

No way!! That sucks.. why would they need to do that? I guess I don't get it.. not sure of the motivation behind eliminating those trails..

It's part of the agreement to allow the bike park.

Closing Dickies and No Spandex totally blows. Looks like SS is aiming to just keep you in the boundries.

In the future, as more trails become available to ride at summit.

In the mean time they are clearing dead brush, etc like they did on pirates all over the forest. I haven't rode anything in a few weeks so I don't know why they are closed for sure.

I'm sure you did. It is open now as they clear cut and ruined Pirates several years ago with heavy machinery. It will never be the trail it was before :(

I could see it being part of the agreement as you noted but I guess it would be nice to see other trails phased out at least later after a few more are available within bike park boundaries.. regardless I am happy with bike park progress so I won't whine too much about losing other trail options, but in a perfect world yes it would be nice to keep them all..

Looks like Trick or Treat and Wet Dream are history as well. Skyline Trail certainly isn't a fair trade for these old established routes.

I'm getting confused by this thread.

What "agreement" exists that trades snow summit trails for other trails?

Snow Summit operates on USFS land under a permit from the USFS. The USFS decides what goes on on the land they manage.
The USFS can rehab any unauthorized trail they want on their land regardless of Snow Summit.

Would love to see a copy of this agreement that everyone refers to.

The USFS has wanted to close several trails for many years, some SS staff have worked hard with USFS to keep those trails open for riders to use lift service and USFS trails. Now that SS has been given permission to build x amount of miles of trails (which includes 2ft on each side of the new trails) per year they are no longer pushing to keep off park trails open and are now focusing on park trails now and for the future.

I also think people are getting confused with the closure of the off park trails being closed because of the new trails. The USFS is doing a major clearing of deadfall etc of the forest, so if a trail is in the way so be it, they are doing their job and helping the forest grow. Does it suck? You bet! I ride and have many off Park trails that I would consider my favorite.

Then yes there is also the USFS service just plain old closing trails that they really never did consider legal to begin with. Even though Trick or Treat was on several maps I've been given the impression it was never really a legal USFS trail.

Great reply Tracy, I think you deserve a trip to Whistler, you know, to destress and such. No?
