Yeah, I hate it when there is a shoulder and I can't take the whole lane!

There's a dedicated bike line on the roads to Baldy LOL

But yeah, in those pictures Chewy posted is about what you'll get, very little traffic on GRR, GMR, and East Fork. With hunting season having just opened there was quite a bit more traffic on the 39 than i'd thought

Are you sure we should ride it even if there is no shoulder??? Heaven forbid we take the lane and slow some cars down. Or worst, BREAK THE LAW!!! aghhhhhhhhhhhhh

I'm guessing its going to be a cold ride?

It's cold on GRR, that's about it. ~15-20 colder. Really enough to notice and get the hands numb, then your thrown back out in the sun for the rest of the ride, sort of.

I got honked at a couple times, yelled at by Chewy a few more, but damn it if there's no bike lane....take the lane!

No reason to ride down the middle of a lane if the lane is 18 feet wide..... (standard lanes are 12...)

    you deserved it! LOL

10+ degrees colder this weekend than last. I've got my full fingers and jacket ready.

Weather.com says a low of 32 for Baldy Village on Saturday night. Oh that shade will be fun!

By the time we get up there it should be in the fifties or better (I hope). It wouldn't be a bad idea to bring a rear light.

Full finger gloves? WTF its that cold?

I got me some arm warmers and knee/leg warmers on the way. Will we really need full finger gloves?

Not saying I am going but still thinking about it.

Believe me, its cold without a full finger gloves. Experience taught me, a thicker socks helps to.

I enjoyed the scenic views descending GRR. What a seemingly endless descent!

You're a nut case. Two teeth...whatever! You were still makin' tracks. I was happy with 4-6mph and a 39/28.

Yeah, the freekin Forestry Service was more of a danger then the moto's. I stopped and talked with the guys and the guy on the ground was messed up but he even was talking to me. He said he thinks he hurt his back and his arm/wrist was broken. The moto was chewed up but not to bad.

As I was descending there were some more of these wanna be racers going up very fast, with the two lead guys getting sparks from their knee protectors. How come there is so little enforcement up there? These guys were doing 80+ in a 35. I don't want to take away from anybody's fun but this is endangering to many other people. Then the forestry /ambulance trucks start coming up and almost hit the two riders in front of me. Then the next one almost takes out the moto in front of me ( he was stopped on the side of the road but the truck drifted all the way into oncoming lanes) when I seen how close this was I jumped of my bike and went up the embankment. Was there any reason for them to be driving this fast? The guy wasn't yelling out in pain, in fact he was talking very matter of factly, so I don't think this was handled well at all. This wasn't a life or death situation.

Other then that, the ride was brutal but still fun. I decided to come down GMR instead of following Davids route of taking the 39. I was so far behind by that time I thought we would all meet back at the cars anyways. I took a wrong turn on Foothill and grabbed a few miles in the wrong direction before I asked another roadie if I was going the right way.

I seen Dizle show up with a singlespeed so I figured I'd copy him and ride ss all the way up ( I really didn't have a choice ) I picked the granny gear, he had something really hard like a 46/16. My knees started shaking as soon as I seen that. I'm glad I brought my Goretex jacket too. It says it protects against the wind to 23 mph but mine was good even over 30 mph. Great ride guys/gals. I'm going to start climbing this side more.
