I asked around, and I know a handful of you guys are available this day so no backing out!

I did this route on 10/24 and though i've done all these roads before, i've never done them all together this way until then. I was so impressed by all the downhill and scenery that this ride has to be shared and done again. I made it an official geoladders route with pictures/turn by turn directions so check it out.

If you can make the 8 mile / 3000ft climb to Baldy Village you'll get to enjoy seemingly endless downhill through some awesome almost car-less highway roads. The climb up Baldy Rd is HARD. But it's at the beginning of the ride. :bang:

There's free water and goodies to buy in Baldy Village (mile 16.44), as well as halfway through East Fork (mile 34.45).

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that grade up to Baldy village ~6-8%? Same as GMR. I know there are a few kicks here and there. Maybe my memory is failing me...again.

Looking @ the Geoladders graph and doing some ballpark math, I get about 6% average, but I know it's got to be more than that because of the little downhill on the climb. Then there is the fact that there are some really steep parts, no shade, and it just kinda sucks.

Once you start the climb to Cow Cyn Saddle, that's when it gets pretty. The air gets crisp and clear. It simply anti-sucks in a big way.

But back to the question of grade, it just seems as hard as a 10% grade I happen to know. Whatever it is, it is kinda hard...

The "few kicks" here and there is the "icing in the cake" of the climb. And yes, your memory is still sharp. I know its a little brutal, but for some reason i crave for and i get a good kick out it.

It has a lot of false hills and summits. There are a total of 9 places where the road juts out and you can look back to see your friends catching up or more like me you can see how far ahead they are. The really steep part is after Cow saddle but I don't think we are doing that.

Not to me, cuz 10% with a 53/39 my ass is out of the saddle. 6-8% and it's sit and spin.
Anywho, I think it will be a lot of fun with a bunch of non-roadie roadies.

Darin, anybody else I'd tell them to forget it but you are always the exception to the rule. There's a number of guys who motor up in the big ring (not me). So if you're willing to try it, I say go for it8-[. I have a few friends who ride it fixed so you should do fine.
