I think they are trying to clean up the Classifieds and remove outdated ads.

^^^^^ Yes. It does have something to do with old adds for items that are no longer available...., but you'll have to ask the Admins.(Craig or George) as the Mods didn't send these out.(at least I didn't).

Also got one of those confusing e-mails.

Nonetheless, all the old ads in the Marketplace forum remain untouched and I can't edit them. But I still get messages from people wanting to purchase items they saw in those old ads. If someone really wants to fix the problem of old ads, that's where they need to look. #-o

Got one too. My ad was deleted even though I updated it a couple of weeks ago with the updated date in the subject line per their instructions.

    MethodX,

I'm sorry, but the ad you submitted to SocalTrailRiders.org, titled
Ellsworth Evolve Medium 2010 NEW has been deleted. *Some reasons for ad deletions include:

    - Ads that were partially uploaded/incomplete
    - Extremely poor quality/images (impossible to make out the image itself)
    - Ads that did not conform to our published site contribution and usage guidelines such as offensive
    - Ads which were not paid for after submission

If you would like to submit another ad, please return to our ad upload form:

    Thanks,

    The SocalTrailRiders.org Team

It appears that there is an auto e-mail sent if you've had an ad deleted. From what it's sounding like, the titles of the items may not be correct in some cases. Any ad older than 1/1/11 that was not updated has been deleted as mentioned in this announcement: http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/general-discussion/announcements.html

Old ads marked sold were also deleted as part of the purge so there may be some e-mails generated from that as well - apologies for any confusion.

Thanks Craig. I'll try and find the bug in the code that was sending wrong titles - that could have cleared up some of the confusion.
