My father in-law called this morning. He walked up to the slopes and was chatting with the set up crew. He bumped into a leasing agent who said they're expecting twice as many people as a normal holiday weekend. He said that most of the locals are shopping on Tuesday & Wednesday because they know the stores will be swamped or cleaned out by Saturday night.

I wonder how many beers I can fit in my Camelback?

Yea, where do you plan to watch? I'll be riding down there. I hope to ride around G Park a little first...

Also, it looks like I'll be able to ride up to Islip Saddle for Friday's stage. Ye-haw!

I'm doing the ride that FFW posted. I'm driving up Friday morning and meeting him at his house. We are then going to the start, then taking a shortcut to Wrightwood to watch one of the climbs.

Don't think I'll be able to get out of the OC early enough to park at wrightwood, ride down to Palmdale, hook up with the other STR's, then back up Dawson Saddle or even Blue Ridge Summit...gonna find parking in Wrightwood sometime around 9am somewhere (Mt. High maybe?) then ride the 10 miles up to Dawson and hang for the 2 hours until the world goes by...have a forest adventure pass just in case, but anyone know about parking in the area?

There is a ton of parking at Mountain High East and West. Parking at Inspiration Point, Jackson Flats and Vincent Gap. One past Vincent Gap a few turnouts until Dawson Saddle and not much there.

I plan on viewing Sunday's stage on Mulholland somewhere near the king of the mountain. Essentially I planned on biking there from Calabasas. Am I correct in assuming I could bike up the route beforehand and stake out a spot for viewing? I assume they don't close the road to cyclist/pedestrians until the race gets near. Since this is going to be my first viewing experience of any race suggestions would be wonderful!

I'm Heading up to the Big Bear area tomorrow, and this is what i've gathered. 330 should be open, and the 18 will be having rolling closures from 1-4. I'm leaving at 4 so there should be no problem, but my camping mates are leaving earlier, so i let them know.

If the 330 is closed, then we'll see what happens.

Knee is not healing from Ontario Crit carnage, so I'll be heading up to Snow Valley, ride Rim Nordic EZ in the Am, then head out to Lakeview Point to hang for a few hours with some "beverages" until the riders go by.

I'll be on the GT LTS-1 if I make it out of the Snow Valley parking lot.
