Pretty safe to say the hydraulic posts are more problematic than the mechanicals.

Joplin 3, GD Turbo, Specialized Blacklite, KS i7, Rase Black Mamba. Can't speak to years-long durability, but my pick so far among those is the Rase. Blacklite the runner up. The KS is on the wife's bike; no issues.

Black Mamba: For some, the play at full extension and occasional noise is a deal breaker. (I don't notice the play when I'm seated; fuzzy pipe cleaner slid inside the spring helps the latter.) I like that it's not hydraulic, has smooth action and easy activation (moreso than my Blacklite), is 1/2" micro-adjustable, has 9" of drop, is available in 27.2, has ambidextrous remote. The three indexed positions on the Blacklite is a decent approach, but full freedom along the range is better IMO. (Finding the middle "cruiser" position is sometimes a wonky exercise.) The Rase won't work with every seat tube due to the dropping capability. The price is premium, but for my preferences it's worth it.

    Cheers...

I think a can find a solid steel one. They are going to need service just like a fork or shock does.

Glad you got yours back so quick. It took almost 7 weeks for mine and a number of phone calls, messages, and e-mails.

I still don't have mine back, nor have I gotten any return phone calls. I've asked for a refund since KS can't commit to when parts will be to fix the i7r and KS has suspended all production of i7r. Never again will I purchase anything from KS
