forgive me, father, for i have sinned. big time.

that could work out, although i might need to drive to meet someone in idyllwild. i'll know for sure tomorrow. either way, i'm sure there's room in my space--104--for another tent. let's keep in touch...

Just so you all know, there is a great mexican restaurant in Hemet that you have to stop and eat at on your way to Hurkey Creek.

It's Taqueria Jalisco (Google Maps). Ignore the web link at google maps, it's not fiesta jalisco.

My dad and I ate there yesterday and it was fantastic!

I had an Al Pastor torta. The bolillo (bread roll) was perfectly soft and chewy. The Al Pastor was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The chips were warm, light and crispy (not greasy at all), and the beans were delicious.

My dad had the chile relleno, which was stellar too. Not too batter-y, and the chile had a decent kick to it. The chile relleno also came with flour tortillas.... and let me say these were maybe the best tortillas I've ever had before. You could eat them plain they were soooooo good.

The two guys behind the counter were polite, professional and friendly. They seemed to take a lot of pride in their restaurant and their food. The restaurant was immaculately clean. And very reasonably priced. (~$5 for the torta, ~$6 for the chile relleno with rice, beans, and tortillas).

Oh, and the horchata was home made. YUM!

I'm planning on being there at 11:30a on Friday if anyone wants to meet me.

There's another place in town called Little sisters (I think), it's been a while, but that place used to have some Rockin' breakfast burrito's. Lunch there was awesome too! I think it was at the corner of Florida and State, or just east of it on Florida. I need to get in contact with the locals I know out there for the 411 on the good eats out there before I go back out this weekend. There's gotta be something new in town worth visiting.

    Directions

56375 Highway 74, Mountain Center CA

HC is off the 74 in the mountains east of Hemet. Get on highway 74 east and stay...stay. The campground is a mile or two past the 243 turnoff to Idyllwild. Don't take the 243, but stay...stay right on the 74. Campground is on left. If you get to Lake Hemet, you went to far.

An alternate route would be to come up the 243 from Banning (off I-10).

At the rate things are going, with all the excitement before the weekend, I'm wondering if what goes on at Hurkey Creek campground stays at Hurkey Creek campground?

i think taking the 74 the whole way is the long/slow route. i'm looking at taking the 91 to the 60, then there's a couple of options. i'd rand mac. it...
