That article is hilarious!! Seems it was written tongue in cheek but everything is pretty accurate about the roadie culture. My buddy rides in a authentic coors light racing kit and he gets compliments all the time on it!! His dad was the socal coors rep back in the day.

Wearing a team kit definately marks you as a fred.

#1 Fred kit.... Rock Racing. That kit is big $$$'s. I can't believe people spend that kind of money on a jersey.

Retro jersey I wish I had, 7-11. I do have a 7-11 cycling cap I caught when Davis Phinney threw it from the podium after winning the San Luis Obispo criterium.

Right on Garrett! We are all the same Tribe! Road, Trail or Track, its all about two wheels, a chain, and legs powering you on! The best mountain bike racers are roadies too and the best roadies are mountain bikers also. The size of the wheel and width of the tire are not important.

And for whoever can't understand and accept that: You're not a member of the Tribe and shouldn't consider yourself a mountain biker or roadie.

    24. Learn how to grab your bottles (either of them) without stopping, re-positioning your hands, or swerving all over the road. Coasting to take a drink screams "hi, I'm new."

    25. Learn the proper hand signals. These should be nonchalant and not giant swirling non-descript hand motions. Know the difference between "sand," and "move over, there's a slower rider/person on the right."

    26. If you decide you must pull, don't hike up the pace, and don't swerve all over the place avoiding stuff if it's not necessary. Pick a line and stick to it. Don't suddenly dodge the asphalt because it changes color.

    27. Never, ever, under any circumstances say that you can keep up a 28mph+ pace solo for 30+ miles on the open road on your road bike. In fact, never talk about average speeds at all unless it's to ask how slow you should go while building your base.

    28. No aerobars in a paceline...If you have 'em, don't use 'em unless you prefer riding by yourself.

    29. Camelbacks on road are acceptable only if any of the following apply:
    a. Your unsupported ride involves epic altitude changes...(+10,000 ft.)
    b. Your unsupported ride involves epic time...(+ 6 hours)
    c. Your unsupported ride involves epic distances...(+100 miles)
    d. Your unsupported ride involves epic routes...(Death Valley anyone?).

    30. If you must snot rocket, launch a loogie, or take a "nature break", do it from the rear, not the front and not into the wind.

    31. No "nature breaks" while riding 20 mph unless your water bottles are filled by a keg.
