Is there anyone out there that has ever had Yuengling Lager from PA? It is a great beer, cheap, and the oldest brewery in the US. I spent many summers in PA drinking this stuff on nights out. It is not distributed in CA. It is a shame. I probably would not have married my wife if it had not been for Yuengling. Not that she would not have married me, but i would not have ever gotten to nerve to talk to her in the first place. Any other Yuengling officianado's? I am going home to South Carolina for Christmas soon and it is now distributed there. I hope Santa brings me some.
I used to travel to PA on a regular basis and Yuengling was the only thing we drank out there. So yes, I agree! Great stuff!
It really sucks that you can't get it in CA. I was driving from the east coast to west with a friend and two dogs in a Mazda hatchback. I found it in Alabama and had to buy as many cases as would fit. My dog Sanford had to ride for two days sleeping on top of beer. He doesn't even like Yuengling but I do! He is a dedicated companion. Can't wait for Christmas too.
Yes Yuengling is a great beer. I had it at PA when I was there for business and it tasted great along with other local wines too. At first I thought it was a chinese beer. BUT last time I asked per PA law they can not ship any alcoholic beverages out side of state of PA. So major bummer!#-o
I grew up in Pittsburgh drinking Yuengling, Rolling Rock, and Iron Shitty. I wouldn't really say any of them are great beers (or good for that matter; just my humble opinion), but I will always have at least one Yuengling with my brother when I'm home for the holidays. Now I'll make the trip down to the East End Brewery for a growler full of something yummy when I'm in Pgh.
it can be done..waiting on a shipment now (not Yuengling). While in Scranton for a wedding I had a good deal of Yuengling...a lot like Karl Strauss Lager, but at 1/2 the price. not worth shipping in, but good if ever there.
Absolutely love the stuff. I lived in Delaware for several years, and was introduced to that and another local staple, steamed blue crabs, there. I have many a fond, fuzzy memory of humid summer evenings spent enjoying Old Bay encrusted blue crabs by the bushel, and Yuengling Lager by the case. Cicadas buzzing, fireflies just starting to come out...oh, man. Not a great beer, perhaps, but so many good memories go along with it it's earned a spot right near the top of my list.
years ago i used to date a girlie from rural PA and that stuff was abound. i would say beer i "okay"...dont think the bandit is gonna be crossing the appalachans (sp?) to pick some up actually i believe there is a "recent" interesting story on Yuengling. I may not have all the facts correct but i recall they got mixed up during the "microbrew craze" and they were distributing beer all over the US to the detriment of the local market (meaning the local boys got none and or the price was jacked). alot of backlash ensued and the company then place certain rules on how much must stay local and with price "fixes" at local pubs on tap...again not sure the specifics but something like that
I grew up a short 10 min drive up the 61 to the Yuengling brewery. Once I got older, we would stop and have lunch after rides and down a couple Lagers or Black and Tans.
The Philly's Best restaurant in Irvine had it on the menu until a few years ago. Something happened and it became impossible for them to legally buy it. If you call them they could explain what happened.
I had a GF in college that was from NY and every time we traveled down that way Yuengling was the only beer I'd drink Great stuff!
Big fan of Yeungling here, the Black & Tan is really, really good. All of their beers are very good. Whenever I travel back to the east coast I always, always have some Yeungling.
BUT last time I asked per PA law they can not ship any alcoholic beverages out side of state of PA. So major bummer!#-o Come on, you can do it! I have the same problem with Leinenkugel's out of Wisconsin. Miller is kind enough to distribute only one flavor out here. The brewery faces the same no ship rules to CA. I use one of the nicer wine mailing boxes with foam inserts. I mail it back to a cousin in WI with some $ and a week later I get all my favorite flavors. :drunk: You just got to be thirsty enough!
I have to say it most likely not they cant sell outside PA maybe limited to sell to certain states. Reason is was out a friends in Baltimore area not to long ago and the had a big store (Basicly Bevmo) and they sold it there.
ahhhh i was just reminiscing about this beer the other day to a friend...everytime i think about Yuengling I glaze over a bit and go glassy eyed... I actually was in college with one of the Yuengling daughters back in PA. No free beer around the dorm unfortunately. My favorite is the Porter. Damn, that is a good porter. We used to be able to get 16 oz returnable bottles of the stuff. When was the last time you could buy a case of beer in returnable bottles? Someone ought to bring that back!
