I agree pro athletes make way too much money for what they do. But if I had the skill to be a pro baseball player, boxer, or whatever. You can bet I would ride that wave as far as I could.

It helps me to think of it as a ratio to how many people can perform the task they can to how much money they make... I paint houses over summer... lots of people can do it... not much money. Alex Rodrigues consistently hits the best pitching in the world with an over 300 average with an amazing sluggage, not many people in the world can do that = lots of moey... it makes me not feel so bad.

My biggest gripe with pro athletes' salaries is that it's lame that stick-and-ball athletes make so much money while there are other athletes who are just as talented in their respective sports who make a pittance compared to the stick-and-ball "heroes."

Pro motocross riders and pro mountain bikers should get waaay more than what they're compensated! Tiger Woods? A-Rod? Who cares? I sure don't.

I find it very funny. But welcome to capitolism.

I personally don't watch pro baseball, but then again I'm sure I'm in the minority of americans.

"Marketability" comes to mind. Top in a popular sport = top dollar. Top in a obscure sport = no where near as much.
