It was pretty dumb actually. Riding Off the Top, but following a friend too closely and when he swerved around a rock I didn't react in time and launched. My helmet did its job so no head trauma, but my neck hurt for almost a month.
This ride was actually from late '08, but since nobody asked last year, I'm going to stretch the rules a bit. Besides, it was my best ride ever--so '09 is technically included Took Gavin up Maple Springs to experience snow for the first time. Didn't quite make it to the guardrail (our intended destination), but it was an epic ride just the same. Full RR is here if you're interested.
Even though my first trip to Mammoth was amazing, this is called "your best ride," and truly my best ride was on 11/7/09. It was one of my rare rides alone (I rode alone a total of 5 times last year), and my first trip alone to Big Bear. I call it my best ride because that day I made huge progress in my technical skills and I finally felt like I was really in control for once. Pic I took of myself on the lift: Towne Trail Fern Trail
Dirty Girlz totally rocked Sedona! Chantry was a personal victory of overcoming exposure. Did it twice and really enjoyed it the second time.
Dell, you have the cutest kid ever! Can I borrow him from you? 8-[ My favorite ride of 2009 was Lower Rock Creek with Dusty and Jay. I can't upload pictures for some reason....
Thanks, Grace! We're pretty fond of him ourselves. However, tonight would've been a great time to borrow him--perhaps you heard his wailing from your place? That wasn't an ambulance, just Gavin not wanting a bath. I haven't been able to upload pics the standard way for months now, but using the attachment feature has proven a decent workaround (usually have to reduce the file size, but better than nothing). Can PM you w/ more details if you'd like.
Taking my wife on her first bike ride in 35 years in Yosemite. Mt. Pinos - too many rides to narrow it down to a best one. New Year's Day 2009 - Volcano Village to Hilo in the pouring rain (on a busy azz highway no less) - After hiking the Kilauea Iki trail my wife and I came up on a couple at the Thurston lava tube. The guy's wife was cramping up big time and in too much pain to finish. We had a van and offered to take them where they needed to go. The husband really wanted to finish his ride. She rode back down with my wife in the van and I took her bike. 29 miles of down hill bliss.

Prescott, Sedona and Kernville. We had a couple others but these were the best. Chicken Point in Sedona. Big Meadow Salmon Creek above Kernville. A trail behind Costco in Prescott!
