Graves has been 1st or 2nd in almost every stage of the Enduro World Cup this year, except for one stage at Winter Park with a broken derailleur, and another stage somewhere with a broken hand. That's some amazing riding.

Also great to see ACC back on top of the women's podium.

Well, no one on STR seems to care about the best pure MtB competition ever invented - racing the way God intended, pedaling up without being timed (sometimes lift assisted) and riding down long, burly runs with the clock running with a few gnarly climbs thrown in to blow up your legs.

Read Jared Graves journal for the week. It's fascinating to get inside his head a little to see how you manage your energy, your need for course intel and your race brain. He even had to recover from racking his nuts - that's why the trail was named Angry Pirate I guess.

It's so cool to see Jared find his "thing." He was a phenomenal 4x rider - even winning the world champs once. He also tried racing DH simultaneously but could rarely find that World Cup speed.

    Read and enjoy the stoke:

Don't get me started - oops, too late...

Yeti has been winning since 1988. They have focused on grassroots racing and have found and developed some of the very best names in mountain biking. Simultaneously, they develop bikes that work really, really well, and have a certain handling characteristic that you can't exactly pin down just comparing weights and geometry. They are not a huge corporation, so when one of their racers hits the elite level, they get snapped up by a bigger company. Look up these names, if you haven't heard of them:

Juli Furtado, John Tomac, Tinker Juarez, Missy Giove, Myles Rockwell, Nathan Rennie, Aaron Gwin, Sam Blenkinsop, Jared Graves, Justin Leov, Richie Rude and many more.

Yeti is title sponsor of the Western Enduro series this year - keeping their grassroots racing heritage alive and well.

All that, and I don't even ride a Yeti. The SB-66c is sick, however. I had the good fortune of riding one on my local trails.

Uh oh, I just derailed my own thread. This is really just about how cool Enduro is and how impressive Graves' riding has been this year.

He's got some interesting wide range cassette on the back of his bike.

Where/when was that bike picture taken?

In his Race Report he states he's running a Saint 38 tooth front and a 11-36 XTR rear cassette. And he also states he doesn't like to change things between stages, likes to keep it simple.

Interesting that he runs with "Tires – Maxxis Minion 2.5 EXO (ghetto/split tube tubeless) @ 27psi F/30psi R"

    Where the drones?

Further thread derailment....but....why the old '90s style video coverage? Maybe PB has some from Whistler but I can't find it yet? With all the gamers out there you would think somebody would hook up the Amgen Tour Tracker app with a drone and a few GoPros and give this a more 21st century look. Give a NASCAR headsup display with MPH, altitude, %climb/descent, total mileage and all that stuff us geeks want.

These guys are amateurs, imagine what a pro could do with this equipment. What's up RedBull TV - why not?

I know what it is and how it is done. The question is, is there a technical reason behind it why he is running it that way, holds air / tire better, less susceptible to burping, etc...

In a few interviews, they have said that's how the guys at Yeti HQ run their trail bikes and it has proven to be reliable for them.

I find it interesting that they did the tube tubless vs the DT kit, which is the best conversion I have found IMO.

I follow the Enduro race circuit and have raced one this year (as well as a few Super D)

I have alot of respect for the athletes that race Enduro, fitness and such a high level of tech skill on the DH is superb.

Inspiring, ive been following some of this on PB and it reminds me that SoCal has more terrain for riding enduro than for complete downhill. SoCal needs a bigger Enduro scene especially since ive gravitated towards it LOL on a Trek.
The platforms their riding on give me ideas for my own.

    Great thread!
