I tried to do manzinita the fire road up wasnt so bad until i got by the 3 water crossings to much sand.they haven opened the gate but when they do i think they will clear most of the sand.
I have heard that Blue Ridge has a little snow left in the shady spots, but is otherwise ridable. If this is the case, Jackson Lake should be clear of snow, but I don't know the exact condition (i.e. slides, etc...). I plan to start riding the trails up there in about a week or so, and am in discussions with the local trail steward about ressurecting a neglected trail this summer... Look for a post on STR about a trailwork in about 6-8 weeks.
Let me know I need to spend some weekends with family in Wrightwood and I love to reopen abandoned trails. Dean
Dean let me know if/when you go as I'm in for doing some trail maint. up there. Manzanita and Punchbowl both need a lot of work.
Can't do any singletrack for another month but I've ridden up the Manzanita FS road and the one from Vincent Gap to Grassy Hollow on different days over the last 2 weeks. Manzanita looked snow free from the top and certainly has several water crossings and wash outs. I only saw one little patch of snow on the Pinyon Ridge road and that was it. I'd guess there may be some small snow patches at the top of Blue Ridge and Acorn but I'd ride them now if I could! Hey Sailor, I'm in for the trail work too! Please keep me in the loop! What neglected trail are you talking about? There are several contenders up there!
