The winds were friggggin freeezing!! made it super hard to mash the super d with tense tight legs. I guess thats racing though gotta learn how to perserver through wierd stuff. Overall the course was cool, had fun riding with some buds and meeting some new people. ended up with 5th in sport which was slightly dissapointing, I was aiming for the top three spots. Deffinitely realized the winter series is pretty serious and kinda the big show at fontucky! racing is fun and a great challenge.

Windy and cold Saturday. Funn Sport course to get me back in the groove of racing after a couple years off.

Sunday not windy and slightly warmer. Same fun course nothing was getting blown out.

Race run feeling great until..... the dreaded off camber corner. It just got to sloppy after everyone else had gon through there and couldn't hold the speed I had been. ass slide to dust cloud. get up trying not to get upset. grab gears to sprint up to the cul de cas and chain starts to skip and not grab the casstte teeth. so I shift up a couple until I find something I can work with. aproach the lower rock section with no problems but felt my hat fall out from where I had it tucked so carfully all weekend. sprinted the wall as hard as I could being up a couple gears.

    Results:
    One scraped elbow
One partially shreaded RD cable (hence the shifting issues. had to have happened during my slide)
One really dirty brand new TLD jersey
One Missing The Path Bike Shop hat
One happy downhilling M-Fer 12 of 15 with a crash, I think 10 seconds off the podium.

I think this is the best one so far.

Thanks to everyone at The Path for their encouragement and support in getting me back racing.

Really, that's it? Eruizela - you were there. Perfecto was there too. Gabe (Fearless Fly) won the Super D. TWC? Monstertiki? XC dudes/dudesses?

Last ditch effort at breathing some life into what used to be a 4-5 page topic.

Lots of crashes on Sunday. Unfortunately I got no pictures of them. One happened about 3 feet in front of me and monstertiki. He was sliding towards us. Craziest crash was a guy flying face first into a large boulder. Full face helmet saved his life for sure. Pictures are up on my site. Tcnguyen.com

I am really missing the thanks button right now! That's what I am talking about people! Even got TWC to chime in and toss in some cool pics. Where's your GoPro footage? Love Ed's clever lever.

Well, I had my first Super D race ever last Saturday.

We only had one practice run in. We sessioned the tough stuff. I had trouble with the few top rocky sections the first time, but I decided that I would just go for it race time.
We got to the top for race time and it was cold and WINDY! By the time I was ready to go, I was chilled and stiff. The wind was really blowing with nearly constant gusts of 35-40 mph. I breezed through the rock sections and went for it, with no trouble. I was a little slow, yeah, but it was a lot of fun. By the time I got to the sprint section, I had a ridiculous head wind and lost some major time on that section. The 4x track at the end was fun. I got last, but I enjoyed it

Good job getting out there John. I did some of my first races there 15+ years ago and can remember sitting up top in the wind, waiting, teeth chattering (cold an nerves). I imagine the DH courses back then were more like the superD now (I don't really know the distinction these days, but more pedally/less knar on the superD?)

You're right. From what I'm told, the top portion was the old beginner DH course from 2 years ago. I think it still may be used for the night races, but someone else can clarify that
