Am I crazy to think I could do the loop after the rain we had? Just started riding over, more concerned about the entrance and how nasty it might be.

Whiting will be closed for a few days due to the rains. The Luge holds up pretty well to the rains, so you shouldn't have much of a problem there.

I'm not a fan of Whiting even 3 days after a rain. The trail that leads to Mustard has a lot of sand. Wet tires, kicks up that sand and throws it into the gearing/chain. Dirt is not a problem to me, but sand can really foul up your drivetrain.

Whiting can stay quite nasty for some time after rains. The first half is pretty shady, so it takes a while for it to drain out and dry out. I have been on it a week after a heavy rain and it was still pretty muddy out. I guess it depends on the weather following the storm.

Any thoughts on if Whiting will be open (and rideable) by Saturday morning?

My friend from out of town rode the Luge today and ran into a Mountainlion right by the Flag. They had a stare down for about 10 seconds, and my friend made loud noises. The lion eventually disappeared behind rocks. Don't ride alone!!

    Isn't this where someone says...

I don't need to ride faster than the mountain lion... I just have to ride faster than you.

The web site says they are closed but I called and they said they are open. And I'm here right now about to start.

Just finished and conditions were great! My time was 1:53 from car wash to car wash. No kitties seen at the flag pole.
