Thanks Carla and Eric for the post.Is it a better deal to get the camp/lift/accommodation's as a package?Or is cheaper just to pay for a hotel on your own?

Looks like its about $1000 for the room if you go for a single for 8 days so thats about the same really. I am paying 129 a night this weekend.

Tough question to answer. A lot of factors to consider: bike rental, chair lift ticket, equipment/gear rental, meals, trail guides. You'd probably need to add up costs both ways and compare.

Cheapest place to stay in whistler right here:

    http://www.hostelz.com/hostel/12072-Shoestring-Lodge

As cheap as $17/night CAD for hostel type sleeping arrangements or about $70/night CAD for your own room with twp queen size beds.

It's about a 3/4 mile walk from the gondola. Whistler's ghetto, but it's dirt cheap. There's a pretty cool pub called THe Boot that's in the hotel where most of the locals hang out.

I used to stay there all the time for my long whistler ski weekends when I was in college. They're website seems to be down though or their domain has expired. I hope they didn't go out of business or something.
