    +1 for alternative surf.

I still use my BZ maligs board. Although I'm more of a prone rider I got the dk board because I wanted to learn. I don't know what fins everyone here uses but I love my Viper fins. Definitely liking those handplanes though.

Anyone gone to thousand steps lately?

    1. Online board finders are decent at "narrowing" things down
    2. Do NOT purchase anything until you visit a local shop
    3. Purchase a board that best suits YOUR specific needs (be honest)
    4. Length of the board (i.e. 43.25") is a useless number until you know how it fits your TORSO.
(Also plays a role with regard to maneuverability/speed/stability)
    5. Much more goes into the construction of a board than you think (core material.... rail design... tail design... stringers... nose width.... overall width... rider weight concerns...)

TO REPEAT: VISIT A BOARD SHOP!!!
Have them size your board! Have them pick-out a few boards that match your description. Pick them up! Grip them... Put them up to your body... Compare features.. Etc.

    Last bit of info:
Most people give little thought to nose thickness until it's too late! Pick up 5 boards and compare. One MAY force you to grip the board with your fingers.. The other with the palm of your hand! If it doesn't fit YOUR hand- You won't feel comfortable! Note: While most of today's boards are fairly similar (i.e. nose thickness)- The differences can be significant! Something to keep in mind!

Fins: Can't go wrong with Tech Finz, Tech 2's or Vipers!

Thanks Dino. I like what I read about the tech 2 fins.

My last fins made the top of my feet hurt like hell the next day, even after training my muscles from bodyboarding 4-5 days a week.

I'm going to go to Alternative surf soon and see what they recommend.

I ended up going with the No.6 Goliathe Icon and got it from Jay at ebodyboarding.com in San Clemente. They've been really helpful and I'm loving the new board. Been going to T Street everyday after work.

What brand/model of fins did you decide on?
    How do you like them?
    Any hot spots?

Hmmm... Last time we were down at Salsipuedes, we wound up leaving the boards at camp and bodysurfed that steady-rolling wave naked. ...the entire week. The desert sun above, dolphins swimming around, getting lifted & carried on a foamy wave nekkid to the black & gold sand... man, there was life before that experience and life after it.

Now every time I go out I curse the clunky fiberglass plank.

A bodyboard might be a happy medium. Hadn't occurred to me that they were anything more than styrofoam toys.

I ended up keeping my Manta DC Clone fins. I just use a fin sock and they work a lot better. They are super soft, no hot spots.
