Rob, here are pictures of the handplane he shaped me. He has done some amazing things with his handplanes since, and they have progressed a lot. This one was one of the first he shaped with that strap.

If you want to see his stuff, go to http://brown-fish.blogspot.com. He is an awesome guy too, very cool and one of the most down-to-earth people you'll ever meet.

+1 on Alternative Surf. I bought my Manta there a long time ago, awesome board. I rode it for a couple years before I kinda gave up on the sport. I haven't been in the water in about 5 years but I still have the board...I might have to get back out there some time

I was never a fan of Toobs :?:

I ride toobs if I decide not to surf. If you haven't already you can check toobs.com and price out a custom made board to your needs. I don't know the pricing though. Manta and custom x are good as well.

When surfers paddle out, what do they see? :?:

    Beginners/Newbs struggling with shore breaks!
Out of towner's experiencing the sport for the first time!
A dad holding the back of his child's board as a wave pushes him towards shore...

Bottom line: Many consider it the lowest form of wave riding!

Tell that to Mike Stewart, Ben Severson, Jack "The Ripper" etc.

I body board, skim board and surf...
Courtesy is of more importance to me than how one chooses to enjoy the water! 8-[

I was sponsored by Manta for a few years back in the mid 90's and they last forever. I still have a few boards from back then....they sit in the garage cause I got smart in my mid 20's and started surfing.

this girl knows what she is talking about. no offense to mtnkitty but 662 is run by a bunch of d'bags.

rob, support alternative surf, long time so.cal boogie pioneer ron ziebell owns the shop and is a heckuva nice guy!!! he has a shop in dana point, and one in seal beach. i used to work at the seal beach location back in 96-97.

btw, i have a bz t10 (classic wide nose prone style board) and a vortex 'dre' board as well. i prefer the t10 for larger surf.

    now go get barrelled!!!

in the shot below, i'm riding a Stewart board.

Agree, I had one back in Puerto Rico and loved it! Custom X is also great.
