Thinking forward a little towards the summer and wondering what's out there in terms of really well vented Full Face Helmets. I'm currently running a Giro Remedy (which I Love), but it does get kinda hot (read: sweaty) on some of the AM type rides in the summer (yes, I wear a FF helmet on all my rides).
So, I was looking for other FF helmets that have more ventilation. Initially was looking at getting a Specialized Deviant, but have heard others reference other well vented FF helmets in other threads without actually naming them. So, what other well vented FF helmets are out there like the Spesh Deviant? Pics if ya got em too. Thanks!

As far as a true full face, the Specialized is the most ventilated I have seen. For AM riding, you may want to look into the MET Parachute helmet. Not sure it's sold in the US and you may have to order from out of country.

Anyone see or hear about any real world use of the Met?

I like my Oneal and admittedly cost was a factor.

Just curious as to how the Met holds up in a good old fashioned OTB.

The MET looks well ventilated but the chin guard looks like it would do little in a crash. Doesn't really fit into what i'm looking for. I'm talking true FF helmets. My riding type is AM, but I try to focus more on trails with more of a DH influence...some climbing, but with good DH sections...

Looks like the Deviant might be in my future...just wish the 2010 color schemes weren't so ugly...(sorry MikeLord...almost bought a "black flames" one like yours a few weeks ago but decided I wasn't a fan of the graphics and would look around a bit more for other options)...

I saw the Met save a riders face from an OTB in a boulder. It did it's job. I always thought they looked dorky but after seeing it in action, I was impressed. I don't think it takes the place of a full face helmet for downhill or free ride but for all mountain type riding where there will climbing involved, it's a good option.

I have the Giro Remedy (great fit) and I've had the Specialized Deviant. The Deviant runs really cool (little to no breathe-back) and very light. It also has the removable cheek pads so you can wash them. I recommend the Deviant (if you can find it) based on my experience with it.

My brother was the one that took the nasty spill a few months back on Motorway so I have been doing alot of full face research. I agree with what most people said the Deviant looks like the way to go in fact my brother bought one and took his frist ride with it today. He said it was different but not in a bad way and climbing was not at all that horrible wearing the full face.

Being a NASCAR fan I just noticed the ones that the pit guys are wearing and would like to see one up close. It would not be a down hill helmet but maybe something good for a little more aggresive XC riding. Any opions on this would be great

I've been wearing my MET for a little over a year and am quite impressed with the fit and all day comfort. I've had one spill where I slammed the side of the chin guard into the ground and came out unscathed.
I wore a Giro Remedy for a few years before that. The Specialized Deviant didn't fit my head.

They are designed like that. I would hate to have a helmet that didn't take the impact. Specialized has a crash replacement program for helmets too.

For the guys who already have one of these ff's. Would you rate it better overall then a standard helmet? I'm convinced the testing and required specs done on helmets are sorely lacking. Don't get me wrong I know they help but there is way to many head injuries with bike helmets. They need to revise the ANSI specs.

There is no comparison between a 'standard' MTB XC-type helmet and a fiberglass shell full-face (that Cratoni helmet looks like a POS, btw). I've had a couple of crashes wearing my 661 that would have resulted in a hospital visit were i wearing an XC lid. Contrary to what others have stated -no- the fiberglass/carbon fiber helmet doesn't need to be replaced in the event of a crash... not unless the shell itself has been structurally damaged (serious cracks or shattered).

The couple of times I "used" my Remedy a standard helmet would have failed miserably. I went OTB and landed on my head. The impact was on the left top down towards the back of my head. I had no head injuries. I think the biggest benefit is the protection it offers your face. I've done face plants with both the Remedy and MET and was able to laugh it off.

This is not 100% correct. If the foam lining is damaged in an impact, the helmet is done. The foam lining is what cushions the head in an impact and is not designed to be reused.

Not to be argumentative, but i'm curious how the foam lining could be damaged in a crash if the rigid fiberglass shell is undamaged? :?:
