So Mott posted a Wilson shuttle...
My knee is all banged up and I'm thinking I should be cool with it, but F-it let's ride.
I get to JPL and no-one else showed! It's just me and Mott so OK, let's do this.

We start up the fwy to the 2 and all of the sudden, fwy comes to a full stop. (overturned big rig and a car on fire) We squeeze down the shoulder and get off. We zig zagged through La Canada up to the crest and headed up. On the way up we changed plans and decided to do a quick Vetter loop (or 2). That way we wouldn't have to shuttle. Mott's never done the Vetter single track and I knew he'd dig it. He did. The day was in the 90's down by the city but we had temps in the High 70's~low 80's.

Just beautiful today with the wind through the pines and the smell of pine needles on the forest floor.

Still some snow in the distance!

We climbed up to the lookout

and did the ST down to the first pavement crossing, took the pavement back up and did another lap on the upper part. This time down we just punched it all the way to the parking lot and I've been smiling ever since!
This some of the flowin'est single track around. So fast and fun. Beers at Newcombs and home we went. Short and sweet!

A few of us rode the Vetter trail, Silver Moccasin up to Chilao last weekend. Nice fast and flowy ST. There was one last patch of snow on the trail which has probably melted by now. Fun times!

Today, I was on the top of Mt. Pacifico and I looked across the canyon and notice some old slow guy on a Turner climbing up to the lookout, that had to be you! Nice day out there...windy but better than the heat.

Ted FYI. Snow clear on top of Pacifico 7100ft.

ooooHHHHH...i love Vetter and the entire San Gab middle high county.

And the San Gabriel's still-under-a-mantle-of-snow high country.

and the San Gabriel's front range.

    Shucks...

... neither are we! Don't be intimidated. Like Kanga sez "in order to expand your comfort zone, you have to leave it". Chilao next weekend... Do that one!

Thanks for the motivational pics. Those are some awesome shots! Made me want to hit it myself.

I did a solo run, Silver Moccy-Chilao-Pacifico-Hillyer this AM. The weather was spectacular. It was sunny and I'm guesing about 60 degrees for most of my ride. It was a somewhat chilly 46 degrees when I started out at 9AM. But as soon as I started riding, it was a non issue.
I had one minor OTB in one of the rock sections descending Hillyer. No injuries incurred thankfully.
Never saw another person on the trails all day. It was a very peaceful ride.
Of course no trip up to Chilao would be complete without a quick stop at Newcombs for a bite to eat and a Poppyfields Pale Ale. Life is good!!!

Sorry for the hijack. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.
