Velo Culture located in Bird Rock (imagine between La Jolla and Pacific Beach) is a great shop with the old school feeling and smell! Sky the owner is very knowledgeable and is great to chat with. The store is mainly catered to the fixie community but he is a mountain biker at heart with a great collection of vintage bikes. Whilst the shop is not stocked from floor to ceiling with parts he can always order what you need. Jimmy the mechanic is great with bikes. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. They usually have a cold beer or two in the fridge  Nice shop and nice honest guys.
Sky is a nice guy ... FYI, their shop has moved to South Park and they have a new website: http://www.velocult.com Although I am sure that the mechanics at Velo Cult can handle anything you give them, this is not a mtn bike shop. They do not sell mtn bikes and mainly cater to road enthusiasts and the fixie community ... lots of vintage road bikes and a handful of new townies. Sky turned me onto the xtracycle and I will have them build it for me when I finally get around to ... well, assembling all of the necessary equipment. I also really, really want one of their Velo Cult wool jerseys!
