I was having a blast clearing up some old trails. Here I was wacking away at some brush and small branches when suddenly a chunk of wood hits my eye. I am telling you, it felt like I was punched in the eye. I was immediately blinded in the eye. After about ten minutes, my vision came back but blurry and still is. It's much better but not 100%. I went to the Emer room since I really thought something was still in there. Nothing was found but a good size scratch. The doctor says the blood in my eye will clear up but will take some time.

So, how does one protect himself? Ok, maybe we won't go into the woods with safety goggles but I will wear my sunglasses.

NOTE: I had a picture of my very blood filled eye attached but decided it was waaay to ugly. Trust me, protect your eyes.

Man that looks painful! Safety glasses or goggles help protect the eyes.

Getting your cornea scratched by organic material sucks. I'm assuming you were prescribed an antibiotic drop. Hope you don't get an infection.

I wear protection even when I work my yard, and most especially when I use power tools. I have a friend that lost and ey when the cord off a pull start pump came off and hit him in the eye.

If you go to Lowes or Home Depot, they have eyeglass type eye protection. I like the ones rated for a direct shot with an air pistol. Theyre all less than 10 bucks. Gun safety glasses are ok too.

Did the ER check for a detached retina? I lost half my vision in one eye from a racquetball injury (wasn't wearing goggles).

OK, here it is,two days latter and it's still a bit blurry. I was given numbing drops and an antibiotic and was told to follow up with an eye doctor. I hope I don't get bad press for the picture but maybe it will send a stronger message, "Wear safety Glasses"

Joke: You sure your not just hung over?

Encouragement: When I was a kid out in the Desert I shot a can with my Daisy BB gun. Back then cans were knarly, I made a fender out of one once. Anyway the bb came back to bite me and my eye was just like yours. Dr. said nothing they could do. Days later I was rubbing my eye with my palm and out popped the bb right on the kitchen table and almost bounced in my Fruity pebbles. Mom smacked me because she thought I was kidding (wierd). Jsuk the blood took 10 days and was gone.

Weeks later I was in the cab of a race car prepping & sanding for paint and my eye went out (it went gray) I was scared big time, Dad said just go sit down and relax, And in ten minutes it just came back to perfect. That was 40 years ago, hope this relieves some worry. Vibes
