Had a great time riding in the Enduro Stuff Aliso race! Unfortunately I took a spill going down Rock-It. I had just cleared the rock garden and was heading a little too fast (for my liking) down the section of rock steps that take you into a sharp right turn. I applied the brakes a bit too much and wasn't low enough on the bike to compensate - so OTB I went! Landed on my left side, scraping up my face and shoulder. Here's a pic of me after the race, getting fixed up by the EMT:

I lost my black Oakley Split Jacket during the fall, didn't realize it until I was near the bottom of Rock-It. After I finished the race I noticed I was still wearing a piece of the left side of the frame!

It looks like it's in good enough condition to attach to the rest of the frame. If anyone picked up a pair of black Oakleys without this piece please send me a PM. I can only wonder what the rest of the glasses look like but they probably saved further damage to my face. Much appreciated! :bang:

Sorry for the spill and speedy recovery.
The local trails are very slippery at this time of the year.
Smooth Hasrdpack with a thin layer of sand that acts like rollers...
Not a cause for OTB, but switchbacks with no berms are very slippery.
    Ride carefully ....

I saw you at the race and sorry to hear about the crash. Healing vibe to you and hope you will get your sunglasses back soon.

    Cheers,

That's a tricky spot and has scared the hell out of me a few times, thinking I just survived the rock garden and then those rock shelves at 45 degree angle to the trail come up quick, with bushes on the right then the hard right at the bottom.... still haven't figured out a good route through there except lay off the front brake and have allot of front suspension.

Healing vibes to you, will keep an eye out for your glasses. Is your bike OK?

Thanks everyone for the healing vibes! My bike fared much better than I did, but I'm going to have it checked out just to be sure. I was worried after I got back up that the bike might not be in a condition to ride, but I was definitely wrong - love my Nine 1!

Full black, huh? My friend said he saw white Oakleys on the course before rock-it. He was a little busy racing so he told a volunteer.

You may want to send Ron with Enduro Stuff an e-mail, maybe one of the volunteers found them when they swept the course after the race.

Thanks David it was great to see you as well. Definitely fortunate that the Oakleys were the only thing that were broken!

My buddy took a bad spill in the exact same place. Seems like everyone focuses on the rock garden and then lets off the mental brakes once they get past - and those last few steps trip them up. He did a full superman at speed and landed on his chest against a rock. I ended up walking him down to Coyote, where the Ranger came and picked him up in the truck. He thought he broke some ribs, but x-ray showed he was ok, just badly bruised thorax. Hurt so bad he couldn't sleep for several days. He ended up proscribing himself some morphine just to get some shut-eye (he is an MD).
