So rode Vincent gap to East fork last weekend. Took about 9 hours with 6 of them carrying my bike. Not hike a bike, bike carrying!

I was told by the search and rescue crew this route was impassible!

Started the ride with a drink then into the abyss!

    Then some riding! 20140810 087.jpg 20140810 113.jpg 20140810 107.jpg 20140810 102.jpg 20140810 099.jpg 20140810 098.jpg 20140810 095.jpg 20140810 094.jpg 20140810 054.jpg 20140810 058.jpg 20140810 073.jpg 20140810 075.jpg 20140810 076.jpg 20140810 029.jpg

Did you get shoot at by any of the old time miners down there? Did you drop down the fire roads though Alpine and use the river, or start at Big Horn Mine? Either way you may have been the only person to do that in decades. Crazy job my friend. Seems like bringing the bike not a good idea. You remain my hero Gabe.

I've hiked with you. If you say it's hard, must be grueling. :)

This would make a nice 2 day backpacking trip...don't bring bikes. We averaged 1.5 mph!

Looks beautiful...but sir, this is a mountain biking forum, not a hiking forum. ;)

Seriously, looks like a great place to hike/backpack.

That is an awesome bear print shot!

BTW, If you didn't have a 6 hour descent following that 6 hour HAB you are doing it wrong!

Nice post, thanks! really like the pics, the bear paw print and the stalactites are pretty cool.

Kudos on you, I don't have that level of adventure left in me to cross country.
but back in the day when I used to back pack this type of trek was a normal thing in the high sierras and mt baldy.

Been there, done that. Back when we did it probably around 7 years ago, there was no marked trail for most of Vincent Gulch so we spent most of the trip wading through the stream. 1.5mph sounds about right. You guys are nuts for attempting it on bikes!
