I have officially lost my mind...100 miles; 10,000 feet of elevation gain; max altitude is roughly 7,300 feet at Cold Springs Summit.

I am signed up. Cap is 600 riders; registration open. If I make it, I'll post a ride report. Any other nutcases doing this?

I have done this ride on my single bike a couple of times and once on a tandem. The views are stunning, and the food at the sags are amazing. Prepare yourself for one of the best centuries offered anywhere. Oh yea, don't forget to train a little....this one can bite you.

I've done it 3 times and it's effin awesome ride. Climbs are long, kinda steep and the views are off the chart. Put one extra larger gear on the back. It might come in handy.

This past Saturday I rode the Griz. It was an absolutely perfect day...temperature in North Fork at the start was a brisk 40 degrees. I was staying at Bass Lake and decided against riding 8 miles, mostly downhill, to the start in North Fork.

The good thing was that almost immediately we were headed uphill. And uphill some more. And then some more. I think I shed the arm warmers within the first 5 miles, and the vest shortly after that.

The views on this ride are absolutely incredible. For your viewing pleasure:

Followed not too much later by Mile High Vista (obligatory shot of the bike next to a sign):

And then Mammoth Pool Reservoir in the distance:

A random bridge on the out-and-back to Minarets:

And this is on Grizzly Road...I saw of lot of this type of view. Up.

Cold Springs Summit was the high point of the ride, at 7,308 feet elevation. I was spent by then.

This was, without question, the most difficult ride I've ever done. 84 miles; 10,200 feet of elevation gain. The pain was offset by the brain-locking ride down Beasore Road...13 miles with a loss of 4,000 feet elevation.

They even had sushi at the lunch stop.

This was the best-supported ride I've ever seen. SAG vehicles went by every 30-60 minutes. Thank goodness I didn't need them. I'm doing it again next year.
