Well, if i didnt have bad luck, i'd have no luck at all Ever since my yardsale at IRP of all places 2 years ago, my dislocated shoulder had never been 100%. I was told to have surgery.. but i went for the physical therapy and nursing it back to health approach. Worked for a while... Got some good runs out of it... Saturday, in between the rain - headed over to Gray's house to pay on the infamous ladder drop. The landing was looking a bit soft, so we threw some wood at it. Couple roll ins.. looked good to go. Followed gray off the end, lookin good. Front wheel missed the wood by 2 inches buried the front end, shoulder popped out, and i rode the bike another 8 feet with my shoulder on the bars LOL...#-o Nice little semi circle action until i tipped over. Typically, my shoulder pops right back in... didnt happen this time. Needed some "coercing" and some heavy meds for the ER to get it back in. We did however show up to the Riv. County fire station and kindly asked them to pop it in. No dice... I'll be seeing my orthopedic surgeon today to see what we gotta do and see how long im off the bike BIG thanks to Gray for helping me get my self in gear. The beer and the Tube slings made the ride to the ER more fun than usual
Damn dude that sucks....I guess at least you got to drink a beer before you went to the ER. Make sure you fill us in on what the ortho surgeon says
me and gray where drinking coor's later looking at your death mark in the landing and going f n chewy
Bummer Chew...... Heal up quick dude. You may also consider signing up for the Debry's graduate program for airborne neutrality........ j/k
Sorry to hear that man. Looks like a fun drop. BTW...is that a homemade crematorium in the last picture? Is that where you dispose of the riders that don't bounce off the landing?!
Oooooohhhhhhh that must have hurt at least you did it to yourself and not received your injury elsewhere. Get well!!!
FYI, I had the surgery you'll require. I was dislocating my shoulder every other month for about 2 years before I bit the bullet. They pretty much pop some holes in you, dig in and snip all those stretched out tendons. They pull out the slack and staple them back to the bone suuuuper tight. I was in a sling for about 3-4 weeks, just letting everything re-attach. Then physical therapy mostly involves slowly streeeetching those tendons back out. Lot of incremental range of motion stuff. It's hard to remember now, but I think I had a good range of motion within 2-3 months, and the strength required to feel pretty solid. It was well over 6 months till I felt "normal" again, but not sure how much of that was psychological. Good news is that shoulder feels super human now. Way more solid and stable than it had been even pre-accident. Definitely stronger and more stable than my other "good" shoulder. I bet you're riding again in a few months, just EASE into it. No sense in un-doing it all.
MOAR WOOD? Or go bigger? Tube sling for the win chew/gray! I cant wait to see the chat box now.... LOL.
