I had no idea he was down that much. Not sure if he did either? I'm feeding him like normal food. He's chewing fine. Just no appetite lately or he's too busy with Fallout 3 to remember to eat? :)

He asked for ice cream last night before the weigh-in I guess I should've run out to get some!!

Thanks guys. Small steps forward are all I can hope for.

Ortho said I can start working range of motion on my right leg so that is a baby step in the right direction.

I have lost 10 lbs since the crash (scale reads 145 with the leg brace). Looking at my legs I think most of it came off my right leg. The atrophy is absolutely horrible. It is going to take forever to rebuild this twig that looks so out of place attached to me.

Will still be a few weeks before I can work on rebuilding strength in my leg muscles.

Neck isn't making any observable progress. Going to be a loooong road. Can't do any upper body exercise till the neck is healed and started to rehab.

Looking forward to getting in the pool though when the wound on my knee has healed. Once I don't have to worry about infection I will be using the pool at our place to get some activity in my routine.

Cool, I weigh more than you now. I'll be right over with a Double Double and a strawberry shake to rectify this situation.

When I had my spinal cord injury 7 years ago, I lost 35 lbs. in 3 weeks. I was blown away and couldn't figure out what happen...until I looked in the mirror and realized my tree-trunk legs were in full-blown atrophy and had turned into chicken legs. It's amazing how much muscle mass you lose and so quickly. Plus, muscles weighs more then fat so the weight lost is even more dramatic. It's nutty but it all comes back, with time and patience.

Good seeing you today. Sorry we couldn't chat more. Justin, I've had a couple bad knee operations and had to come back couple times from long rehabs starting with basically no tone at all in the affected leg. You can do it.

Plenty off bike type stuff out there like pylometrics, fast feet, agility etc that you'll love to hate when that time comes. Hang in there bud.

When my mom fractured her C5 in her roll over crash a few years ago, she had to keep the brace on 24/7.
They said she probably wouldn't need surgery if it fused back together on it's own. Thank God it did finally.
Every time we went to the Dr. for a scan to check it, we were anxious that something wouldn't be coming together.
It finally did. Now she's up here annoying me as usual.
This is a huge test for you Justin! Patience will guide you.
Stay calm and just heal and recover.
Lots of people are thinking of you!

Really nothing new. Justin has kind of self-weened himself out of the neck brace, but still has discomfort/pain at times.

The straight leg locked out knee brace must be on whenever Justin is up and about. He can sit with his leg immobile and do minor passive exercises and that's about it with the knee.

We see the knee surgeon again tomorrow for what will be the week 9 follow-up! The last two visits (2 weeks and 4 weeks ago) we were going in hopeful that he might start activity, but I think this time around we are just hoping that it is continuing to heal and not regressing at all. I guess that PT/activity will follow when it's possible.

Justin is back to work PT and FT soon I think. It's a lot for him to sit at a computer for 4+ hours at a time, and due to meetings and our large "campus" the hobbling around I think wears him out a bit as well.

So, no real updates yet :)
