:protest: Ok, it has been a couple of weeks now since I went to Utah and had a sweet mtb trip.
I got all kinds of great info about Utah from this site of which I consider has a fantastic community of mtbers. Brothers and sisters so to speak.
Now is it just me who doesn't like the site the way it is now, or are there other peeps who think it is not near as good. I'm sure there has to be others who would hate to see a good thing go extinct, Lord knows there is enough of that going on right now.
I'm not sure if the creator is in the works of making it close to what it was, or making it even better, or if he just does not care. Are you out there? What is happening? Don't make me leave you!

He apparently doesn't care for the "look"...I'm not fond of it either but I wasn't here for the "look" before the issues...it's the community that "IS" STR....

The only portion I see missing from the "Old Homepage" is the "your last posts" section...everything else is there....it just has a different look to it....

I was fond of the old layout and had a routine.
I am adjusting to the new layout and expect to be back to normal with the site soon.

All things change. Change changes. Changes that changed change and will change again. Wait. Can I change what I just wrote.

This is a general response to everyone that comes to STR...

It's called change, necessitated by outside aholes.

Be thankful that George (and Moka and others I'm probably not aware of) took the time to fix/recreate this site at no cost to the users here.

There are some things I miss from the old version but overall I am quite satisfied with the new edition. I assume, perhaps wrongly so, that some of those elements will slowly creep back into this version.

While I have donated to STR, any and all donations are mere pittance to the amount of time and money required to keep a site like this up and running.

If you have a doohickey, thanks for supporting STR - as a user of STR, I also depend on those donations so I can have access to this site and the great folks I have met here. If you aren't satisfied with STR, then don't renew your donation, however, I am 100% certain that you have received a far greater return on your investment than the actual dollar value you donated.

The multitude of benefits far outweigh any expense in money and/or time one chooses to invest here.

If you don't have a doohickey, then you aren't out anything at all and should probably think twice about complaining about STR or it's creators and behind the scenes folks.

Constructive criticism to improve the sight is encouraged, but whining and bitching isn't. If that's all one can muster, then maybe they should just STFU and find another place to be negative at.

The time line of the crash and changes has been well documented here. All one has to do is search and read.

While this is a response to the OP, in general, it is intended as a blanket post to anyone who reads STR and is in no way aimed to single out any specific individual.

    Stepping off of soapbox now.

'Change' is good - just like a new bike...may take some tweaking and getting used to the new fit - the dirt (e.g., content) is still the same and will be what you make of it...

You have to admit these other guys are right, it seems generic like someone just threw it together, which is probably exactly what happend, and I can't say I blame whoever runs it was in panic moad to get it back up. But are you going to leave it this way?
One of the things was when I went to the group category it took me to the back of the post from 2008, and because I'm not as smart as most people, it took me awhile to figure it out to go to the last post. Why take me to 2008?

I think the old site was great and the new one needs some work but then again I'm glad we even have such a site to go on. The guy who ownes the site(george) is workin on all the details I am sure of it!! Keep in mind he probably has a full time job too and I'm sure that comes first as always. I would have to say just be patient he will get it all worked out......sometimes change is good and just takes a little time to get used to. If he didn't care about STR we would still be stuck in a virus infected problem and no one would have anywhere to talk MTB. Trust me I loved the old site it was easy to use and that is great for someone like me who don't know crap about anything....lol

If you didn't know, the site went down and had to be rebuilt. There is an entire thread here: http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/website-discussion/52003-upgrade-discussion.html

That said, it is still a work in progress, so be patient. Those of us who volunteer time on here have jobs and lives outside of STR and that includes George who owns this site.

    It's all still t

Perhaps a coincidence, from what I've noticed, ever since about the time they closed the Marketplace forum, STR has looked a bit like...

STR is about the people and the experience, the forum and it's format is just a shell. It is what you make it......For everyone who cut and ran, we miss you, please come back!!!!

Bitch, Bitch, Whine, Whine...HELLO! I completely agree with DENMO! Ya, that forum changed, but so does the rest of the world. It's like having the old iphone and comparing it to the new i phone. Of course there are things that still need to be worked on, but NEVER forget....this forum is FREE! You want something better, then show the modorators some money homie! PS, did you not remember about the viruses? That's the main reason why we got a upgraded forum. I love STR...i've met so many kick ass people and over all i get really good information from people who like mtn biking as much as i do!

    Malfeasance.

The new shell will take a bit of getting used to but it is a small inconvienence I'll bear to stay a part of the greatest MTB network in existence.
