I know we have the option of "no expiration" when placing a classified, but it seems like there are some really old, "stale" ads in the classifieds. For instance, there are ads from January 2010 in the AM Bike section. Are all these bikes still available? I've had instances where I've contacted sellers of old ads for other products and they took forever to get back to me because they didn't even participate in this forum anymore. Anyway, just an observation . . .
I agree. I wish I could bump my listing back up so people could see it again but I don't think that's going to happen.
Ok, I placed an ad back in October and the item is sold. Now what do I do. I just went to the add and I see no where to edit it at this point. Help me out and I will get it removed.
How did you contact the sellers? I have noticed that the email option seems to send them to my junk email box. I don't get junk email on my phone and i rarely check my junk box.
Go to your add on right side you will see product options. Sold it marks it as sold, and if you chose edit option you can check box to delete ad.
Thats why I always put a limit....if it hasn't sold in that time frame(I usually do a couple weeks) then I either don't sell it or re-list it...
The e-mails go to the address you chose when you signed up on STR. If that's not a valid address any longer you'll need to update it. You can also request potential buyers to send you a pm, text message, etc.
Same here. All the responses I get from the classifieds here go to my spam box. For my first bunch of ads, I didn't seem to get any response, but I didn't know a lot of people were waiting for a response until I checked my spam box months later. Now I know to check, but many spam boxes auto delete after a period of time, which is why some people will never get a response.
Hmm. I'm not an e-mail expert by any measure so am not sure why that would be. I'll let George know that there is a problem. FWIW I never had any problems with the e-mails going to my Yahoo e-mail address. For now it may be a good idea to mark those old e-mails (if you still have them) as "not spam". Hopefully future messages will get through. Thanks for the heads-up
I also use Yahoo mail. When I receive a message, I mark it as not spam so the rest of the conversation goes through normal mail, but messages from new people go into the spam folder. But alas, I'm also not an e-mail expert, so I don't really have an answer, either. The plus side is that I now monitor my spam box more often, and I may catch other e-mails labeled as spam that also are not spam. So at this point, it's no big deal for me, but it can explain why some people don't get a response to their inquiries.
Open your ad an in the upper right hand corner click on "Product Options". From there you can choose "Sold it" or "delete".
I have seen an increase of mail going to my spam folder using Yahoo Mal, including items that I had marked as not spam and also email fro senders that had previously been delivered to my in box. I now have to check my spam folder daily before I empty it.
Marking as not spam doesn't work as they come from the persons email address so each email has a different email adress, only has same subject line.
as much as the older classifieds kinda bugged with the worthless posts in threads ("only if this was a medium" "too bad this wasnt available two weeks ago", etc..) i do admit i miss them. stuff moved quick!
Those were the good ol' days. I'm glad most of the other message boards I participate on still use the marketplace style. Those added posts were funny, though, and I don't think they really distracted from the original post. For the most part, I never saw a problem with them.
Maybe it's time to revisit this. There seem to be lots of old adds and even recent ads where people never respond regardless how you try to contact them even though they keep posting more ads. Seems like lots of people don't bother to delete maybe we max time to 30 days. If you still have it repost it.
