    In the olden days, I worked in the jewelry biz, but I never had to take a ring off a broken hand. My trick was to hold the person's hand over their head while they relaxed. After several minutes, the blood drains from their arm, making the finger small enough to slip the ring off.

    Dr. Rob has one more bit of advice, but it's um... y'know... kinda embarrassing. Try to quit the painkillers and move to something over the counter, or start taking a laxative immediately. Those nasty narcotics can make it seem like you'll never poop again... not something you need when you're already dealing with a goofed up hand.

    Concur. My doc told me (of course too late) that hydrocodone basically paralyzes one's tract. It sure is fun drug though, lol. Heal up quickly!

    Update: gonna go for surgery. It was a tough decision. Gets me back on the bike faster and all but guarantees perfect function of my hand down the road. So I guess I will be getting some sweet new hardware, in the way of a plate and screws. Don't piss me off, cuz I'm gonna have a punch of steel ;)

    Hoping to get'er done tomorrow.

    No worries Kelly. Bummer to hear this. Seems lots of crashes of late. I had mine about 3 weeks ago, but got away with just scraps and a cracked helmet. Heal up soon.

    well here she is!!! Now post-op plus three days. Just need to figure out how to work the front brake and I'm good to go :lol:
