wanted to try the drop by the tree. Hesitation is a killer. Speed = 0mph. Started to tip over so i put my foot out. So much angle i was still going down. No problem; I tip over like this all the time. put my hand out to ease the skidding. Problem was, the hand went into a granite hole. Hand vs. granite. Game: granite.

Three broken metacarpals later and AJ, Ted, and Scot now have to get my sorry a$$ off the trail :(

Good news is my dad says when the time comes for a cast he can shape it around the MTB handlebar :)

Oops, gene i meant to put this in Rider Down thread!!! I need more pain killers :(

Yow! How'd you even break those without breaking anything else?

Here's hoping you heal up quick and heal up well!

Well, it is said that Angel bones are hollow so they are lighter than normal human bones so they can fly. Maybe she really is an Angel after all.

Props for always pushing your limits...the upside/downside is that you can probably get some roadie miles in after a couple of weeks of healing while a cast keeps it immobile...

I'm pretty sure my fingers bent back all the way and slammed my metacarpals into the granite.....at least thats what it felt like!

Nah, no operation required. My dad says the fingers will keep everything lined up nicely, though my ring finger is now a wee bit shorter8-[

The thing that hurt the most was having to pull the wedding ring off that swollen, broken finger. Took two hours, countless attempts, and many halted attempts due to extreme pain :(

The trick, FYI: thread dental floss through the ring, wrap it around your knuckle compressing the swollen skin down like a corkscrew toward the fingertip, lube it up and then pull like hell while someone else tugs and unwinds the floss behind the ring.
