So what if lawill crashes or DNF? Full xt groups for everyone! ;)

Seriously, I don't have a chance in hell to beat his time, but man that's a cool incentive!

If Lawill crashes fastest people only lose by 10-20 seconds LOL

    If he gets DNF
Only one person can win the grand prize. If more than one person can beat Lawwill, the prize will go to the faster person. A consolation prize of an XTR Shadow Plus Rear Derailleur will go to up to the next 5 fastest people who can beat Lawwill.

If I recall correctly, there is a shorter course for cat 3. It takes out the big climb to the top.

It was posted somewhere that everyone is doing the full course except for some juniors (cat 3 I assume).

Keep in mind this is a new course. The big climb, isn't the normal big climb. The new one takes you to the same place, but you go up the pavement first, then cut across the big hill. It's almost all singletrack once you leave the pavement and it's mostly a gradual climb with a few steep pitches (all rideable though)

I will say it's a long way for a cat 3 race. 3 laps doesn't seem right. I know for the winter series cat 2 only did 2 laps and most times were anywhere from 1h to 1h20m.

After riding the course yesterday it seems odd to have CAT2 or CAT3 racers on that first big descent. The reason I hear that we can't have more technical courses is the lower CATs but then they get routed onto the most tech ST we get the entire year? I don't understand the logic.

yes its odd. i did the triple crown series a couple months ago( the one Cycle Events Company) puts on and the final was at fontana. originally the beginners were gonna do 2 laps and at the last minute they only had us do one. it was hot as hell and fairly brutal for beginners. that course seemed to closely follow this coming sundays course. i believe it was about 5.5 miles. it was tough but fun. I'm going to try my luck at the super d and xc if I'm not too beat

We did the same lap last November and beginners did one lap, sport did 2 and expert did 3. It seemed very difficult both physically and technically and took about 40 min for one lap. It will be very very hard for cat 3. I'm preparing myself for the torture :). The possible rain will make it extra exciting!

For the winter series, this was the course for all racers except Juniors....beginners seemed to do ok through the new singletrack sections....quite a few people in the winter series went up a level to do the extra laps....expert winter series did 3 laps, sports did 2, and beginners did 1.

Since everyone is a staggered start, we shouldn't have the lapping issues on the longer course. 3-Lap winning times in the experts were in the 1:30 range...I'd expect 30-minute laps again for most sport class winners, and 35-minute laps for the beginner winners. Last years course went straight up National Hill and descended the singletrack that we will now climb to get to the top. Personally, I prefer this year's course...great mix of singletrack and doubletrack sections...better be quick and pass if the opportunity arises....get passed by a climber and suffer the downhill technical sections....you'll can lose minutes through the singletrack if you don't hustle ahead of the slower riders.

    I love racing.

Saw it while I was building the Super D course today... Well saw parts of it. There is a split toward the top and then they stay apart until almost the bottom by the road crossing.

The sport course has some previously ran sections BUT they were all good and fast sections. Didn't get a chance to scope out the Pro line. Should be fun tomorrow!

Saw B. Lopes riding super D and yes he is fast!
