Dont think my injury is serious enough to qualify for this thread, but had one of my biggest crashes on a jump at snow summit yesterday. i dont have much experience with lippy jumps but was there with better riders than me (rox, winston, craig) and following them i was feeling more confident than last time. was actually doing pretty good for a few runs hitting more of the jumps with some speed but got cocky on a stepdpwn and hit it pretty fast but bike over-rotated in the air and when the front wheel hit just before the top of the tranny i kew I was going down hard.. Couldve sworn i broke my hand but had it xrayed when I got home and its just a really bad sprain can barely use it. Also, sprained toe, pulled groin and leg muscles and strained shoulder. Hope im not out for too long. what sucks is my wife and i scheduled 'spring cleaning" for today even had a dumpster scheduled to throw away a bunch of stuff and im pretty useless today. Couldve been a lot worse!
Glad to hear nothing is broken. I had a crash Monday that resulted in only a bruised hip, but my poor bike broke two spokes, bent a rotor, and cracked my zee shifter. Which step down did you crash on?
It was one of the new ones on party wave, to teh left after the ladder drop. Maybe it wasnt a stepdown but a table. Bike is ok
It was a really cool crash to watch from behind if that makes you feel any better!! ; p I'm sorry Gary - never never ride w me. Hope you learned your lesson. Heal up bro.....
That is the progression of riding a bike park. You ride until you crash bad enough to wonder why you do it. then you forget the lesson and do it again.
Heal up man , I crashed into the mountain and thought I broke 2 fingers but all I did was explode my pinky to where you could see bone and the finger after ripped off all skin on top of knuckle I was hauling are on the long right hander to do the ladder drop and lost the front in the sandy stuff ,i was able to save it but it shot me into the wall my hand got caught between bars and rock/wall and bucked me OTB into the mountain side You will get used to big diggers and crashes so welcome to the club
I am with you on that. I don't have any interest nor do some of my riding friends have interest in lift assist. Believe me I full support lift assist I just don't have the skills nor want to risk injury. I need to save myself for high altitude wildflowers, aspens and riding thru ancient forests.
I read your description of where u crashed, and I suspect we got hurt in almost the same spot. I hurt my heel going down the wood feature on Westridge, that turns right, then ends up onto two table jumps. I hit my heel on the second jump.
Sorry to hear about this. Bike park crashes get into your head, if you let them - especially if you have a spouse and/or kid depending on you to make better choices. I'll ride with you when you are ready to ride again and we can support each other's reluctance to take to the air. We will not follow Rox, who throws caution, common sense and her hair to the wind and smiles an evil grin while doing it.
You can count me in on the cautious bike park rider. My outlook on life is much different with age. I stay within my limits and still have fun.
sounds good Chris. Can you ride mid-week during the summer? Im still gonna go up there but probably play it a little safer on the jumps. Will always enjoy the the berms and wallrides
I ride weekdays mainly look for a Intense M9 Flo Orange with Purple anodized parts. I'm fat and drive a white Scion xB too if you see my in the parking lot.
