You'd need to swap assy. #2 ( QR) for assy. #1 ( 12 x 142 ). Do you have a 12x142 frame? Dunno if it fits tho. The Shimano tech guys have answered questions for me in the past......

Yeah I am getting a 12x142 frame next week.

I've talked to some one at Shimano and he keeps insisting that all M788's are 12x142.

Well, see if that axle has removable endcaps and if when removed it exposes a 12mm opening. Then all you would need is 142 spacers. If not, see if you can drift out the existing "hub axle unit" , then you can insert the 142 version.

Looks like you need the larger 142x12 Hub Axle unit Y3TH98020 and Left-Hand Lock Nut & Cone (M15) Y4S898020. Bearings are the same size and count, and seals look the same.

If there were endcaps or spacers, there would a Shimano part number for them.
