I went to high school with this cat, it's been interesting watching the highs and lows he has experienced since the late 80s.. he was always ballsy, and had attitude.. not someone I'd consider my "hero" but talented nonetheless..

screw that guy. he and his snowboarding punks broke all the front windows out of my buddies house in tahoe after they got their asses kicked in a skiers vs boarders brawl back in the early 90s. He made the mistake of leaving his fancy pimp jacket there and they burned it in the fireplace thta night. funny part of the story is the he had the balls to come back and ask for his jacket the next day and they handed him a burned up piece. lol. the good ol days....

Back in the 90's he was riding sheep hills on what I recall was a specialized stumpjumper while my friends and I were BMXing. He had a film crew with him and it was cool to watch him hit everything on a MTN bike. I was always a big fan of his snowboarding but felt sorry for him because I just assumed he would kill himself somehow.

I appreciate that he was fast on a downhill run, but all the negativity he brought to the sport, we might have been better off without.

Anyway, Tomac was even more successful & influential. ...and he didn't make you want to @#$%punch him. No documentaries about the Tomes though.

I was racing during that time in the 90's. I do not think that Palmer brought anything negative to the sport. If anything he made it more interesting and exciting. I watched him at Big Bear several times and he always delivered a great show. Honestly, the sport seemed to take off and get a lot more attention after he arrived. He knew how to market himself both on and off the course. We would all probably still be wearing Lycra road bike shorts had he not arrived to the sport.

NOT!! I never wore Lycra shorts. You wouldn't of caught me dead in that crap. Trust me, no body wants to see a fat man in a sausage suit.

He's always been cool to me every time I've talked to him. And I think his Troy Lee helmets are some of the best looking one's out there!

I'm wearing this one at the moment.
