Keep in mind there is a Major Race this Saturday on Holy Jim (Vision Quest / Counting Coup), Majority of traffic through by 12-1. Water will be above normal.

As usual in spring, beware of PO when your in the zone descending the lower reaches. I removed some of it but it'll keep comin'. Watch for the long extended branches that will be above handlebars but ride along your forearms and into your neck, NASTY. Creek crossing was about 2' deep at its' greatest, a challenge to cross.

And when PO rashes show up a week later, remember Calamine lotion.

I am assuming with the recent WS Pow Wow people were able to drive Trabuco road out to Holy Jim. Does anyone know the current conditions of this road? I tried to drive out about a month ago and was turned around by OC Sherriff at one of the water crossings.

Road was open all the way during VQ/CC. I would assume it that way now as well. I'm sure others will have been there since I was on 4/2 and chime in.

Thanks, drove out there today. Road and trail are in the best shape I think I have ever seen them. I'm sure we can thank the WS for the work on Holy Jim. We did Upper and Lower....good times!

Went up and back Maple Springs yesterday. We did 14 miles round trip. The paved section has been repaired. Trail is in great shape. With the little bit of rain we got this week all of the water crossing are low. Kinda chilly on top and blowing gusts of wind. Ski gloves and my fingertips still got cold coming down. But it was great to see this little guy on the way up.

Rode the HJ/Trabuco loop today... Last night's rain didn't frighten us. Lots of color everywhere with the wildflowers. The nice thing about the cool/cloudy conditions is that none of the bugs so prone to the area near the top of Trabuco showed up!

Gotta say though, Trabuco Creek Rd. (the dirt one) is like a freeway now. Everyone and their grandmother was out there today.

    Santa Ana's trail conditions(BS, Harding/MS/HJ/Trabuco Rd) Updated 5-17-12)

Any advice or input on Maple Springs' condition for tomorrow? Got this flu bug for 2 days now and need to squash it with a MS to Motorway loop. Thanks!

I rode MS to Motorway Sunday after Sat rain it was great.... it will be fine tomorrow, few section on MS were a tiny soft because the rains just dampened all the dust and it had not been packed dowm, and some of the backside climbs on the way over to motoway will be a leeeetle softer so it may take a tad more energy, but it was great and the Motoway was spectacular as it should be for tomorrow.

Frickin EVERYTHING should be awesome starting thursday and beyond....put on yer helmets and saddle up!

MS-->Motorway: Conditions were AWESOME! Pretty dry with a few puddles here and there, but easily avoidable. A bit windy at 4 corners and on the pain divide. Motorway was fun. Still loose, but not as loose. Go get some!

Rode Holy Jim - Trabuco on Sunday. Dirt was prime. Lots of mud/water on Trabuco Creek Road from the creek crossings. Going up was fine, got muddy coming back down. Creek crossings on both trails were about the same as the prior month when I'd ridden them. Some of them better built up for easier crossing IMO. Get some.

Snow level looks really low in the Santa Ana's here from work. Santiago cam shows snow, but Sierra cam does not.
