So I think we ended up with 10 people to ride, 2 shuttle trucks. We rode the bottom trails and didnt make it up to the other trail from maxwells post, next time. A good few few fell and there was one fall that I cant believe someone could survive, but Ill let him talk about it. All in all it was a good day to ride, and alot of fun.

Cmon Rick, give us the gory details and pics. Skyline singletracks are fun, but I won't touch a lot of the trails at the bottom.

or a few up top that we found, bighit has a few pics, i have one pic of a cliff, but Ill let it get explained first.

I believe his str name is rvillanuev1 I think, anyways he shuttled us the first ride up, and then on the second time down the hill, theres a super sharp right turn coming off a ridge, if you dont make the turn its around 30ft down, well his front tire made it, and his back tire didnt, so he did half a back flip and dissapearred into the hill. I thought he was dead and ran over there, but somehow? I dont know how? he was fine we just had to fish him out of the ditch

my view on the way up

that was the most rediculous fall I've ever seen from a mountain bike. It was literally a swan dive down a huge hole in the ground. You really kinda have to take a look at it in person to appreciate it too, that pic is nothing.

Great ride though. Had fun riding, met a bunch of coolm people, gave my new armor a thorough testing ;) The trail was great, and a really good challenge. TONS of ruts, a couple fun jumps, lots of twisty singletrack, and a few scary steep sections. First time I've ever felt my formula brakes were inadequate (AND I just upped the rotor size too)

Definitely down for a return trip. Ricky, you needa get that key so we can hit the other side of the valley. I think we can get away with going a bit earlier too, it wasn't all too hot today.

I remember that trail where he fell. I walked it last time we went down it. No room for error coming down at higher speeds and needing to make that sharp right turn. Glad everyone is ok.

in all seriousness, that's a stupid place to put a trail. Maybe it's worthy of a net? I can't help but think how lucky rod is that he wasn't hurt in any way, but I also don't want to think what it'd be like if he had landed just so much differently. from my angle, it looked like he could have easily snapped his neck (among other, less serious things).

On a different note, we should have him buy a mob of lottery tickets...

it wouldnt be fun if there wasnt the chance of dying, we all made the decision to ride it out or walk it, live, fight, F, would you rather die on the freeway anyways?

Scary for the spectators thats for damn sure, maybe we should ride with a rope

The special route is better as long you don't follow my retarded ass up a ridge and back down that ridge, and then past the nice looking trail on the left and into the nursery and over the fence, and through all the tubleweed. #-o

Jason already told me how crappy that route was and I followed you down it anyway. That makes me the real dumb ass.

Your not in the O.C. anymore.... Best way to fix it is w/ a hike and a shovel, ready? The first rule on this side of the hill is that there is none.

    Cheers,

    C.K.

Thanks guys. I had a good time breaking in my new bike. The sad part is that I rode this trail a year ago or so on my hardtail twenty niner and cleaned the whole thing. Today the much bigger bike tossed me around a couple times.

Of course, I might have been charging a bit harder as well. The new Heckler feels real good. I'm still undecided about the fork and might try to get something that's either a little shorter or has travel adjust so that it can climb better.

I missed Rod's fall, but was there to help pull him and his bike out. He was totally unfazed and was smiling. Big cohones, for sure.

I'm ready for the other trails, even if I have to ride up. But, the key would be much easier.

    Thanks for the shuttles everyone.

    ~R
