Okay... Ended up helping out the OTH staff last night, it was actually fun watching and cheering on everyone...if I knew you or not. Two riders really stood out to me. The first one was Charlie"Zerogravity", I saw him standing around looking kinda lost, I asked him what was going on and he said he was thinking about racing. I said " you have a bike, have some money, then race! He was killing it! For someone that's been riding for not very long, he puts a lot of effort into having fun and bringing others into riding. Glad too see you're enjoying the life Charlie. The other rider is from San Diego, I dont remember his name, but on the first lap he handed me his seat post /seat that broke off in the single track...he raced 4 laps like that, standing up the entire race...ef'n ell!
Good too see everyone having fun, I might have too race one or two events this year...still thinking about that.

This guy 406 can ride. Had a chance to chat with him. He's on a 1935 Schwinn ss full rigid, steel frame, flat pedals, weighs 33lbs; drum brakes front. [celebrity look alike r.i.p Ray Bradbury]

I've got all the Over the Hump Race #3 Results adjusted and posted online. Email me if I missed anything.

I had a brief moment of terror when I came across a few hundred registration issues, but luckily it was a relatively easy (but time-consuming) fix. Next week will run a bit smoother with the results.

    Thank you all for racing.

    First race this year

This was my first race of the year and unfortunately I had to race with the Super freaks in expert class or face ridicule since I won Super Sport last year. I arrived at 5 and was running around like a chicken with my head cutoff trying to get a number plate and leg marking as well as register my son for the kids race. By the time I got us both set up to race the kids race was already launching so my son and I tail gunned the kids race. He has an intense BMX race bike with skinny tires and tall gearing...not the best mountain bike. He did well though. I need to get him something with gears. Other than following my son around the 6-8 course I never got a chance to warm up. That start was insane... when I found out we were not going across the land bridge and were going strait onto the single track i was like :-s. It was crazy and needless to say before I even got through the first half lap I was disconnected from the leaders...I ended up taking 13th riding the whole race mostly alone somewhere between the leaders and the chasers. I'll be racing the rest of the series and hope to do better next week. Am I the only person racing a 26" wheeled full suspension bike??? If I got a hard tail 29er would I be so fast that they would force me to move up to PRO class????

If I keep pulling 18th in Expert, I'll be wheeling out my 1997 GT LTS-1 and I'll see if I can still only drop a few minutes/lap on you. Otherwise, its about keeping the Expert Class large to enable 9th place to pull a pint glass.

At least the only carnage in our first half-lap was the dude who (I think) was laughing on the exit of the forest having dropped/sheared his seatpost a hundred yards earlier.

I have alot of 2011 pint glasses but I'm going to be very proud of any 2012 I earn. 9th place or better here I come! Yeah I was glad to see a clean race with little carnage. I rode expert class the last two races last year and crashed both times. The in OTH #11 I crashed hard at 20mph after clipping bars with oncoming traffic. It was ugly.
