Awful. My thoughts and prayers go to his family.

Even at El P, you have to be careful. I say if you are going to do any San Gabriel riding, even El Prieto, take a month before---ride your bike everyday for at least a month, meaning the same one you will be riding up in the San Gabes---so you will know everything about it. Ride it to work, ride it after work, ride it at the Fully Loop every day for a month, if thats the only dirt. Ride it wherever there is dirt locally. Tape off one eye on the last week and ride it through your local trail, just get your body and brain used to reacting quickly.

I've been reading a lot of these fatalities and horrible accidents from casual and weekend warriors getting messed up on so cal trails including in Big Bear. You can't be sitting in Torrance or La Palma at your track home a week or two before a trip to Big Bear, Mammoth or even the San Gabes, sipping on your IPA watching tv like some bonehead... Do that and you WILL fail...You have to go out and train with the bike that youre going to be using. I have 4 bikes so naturally I cannot just pick one at the last minute and go up to Mammoth and expect to do well. Yes you Flatlanders have to drive out to your nearest trail and like I said, ride every day for a month.

Its like anything else. Practice. The reason Steph Curry is so awesome is that he probably sleeps with a basketball. I watched some behind the scenes of him practicing his 3 pointers and they rifle balls to him, he makes it again and again. I've seen him make over a dozen 3 pointers in a row during practice.

Happy riding and RIP, Torrance rider.

Apparently Kelly died of a massive heart attack. Its WAS NOT from a lack of skills! He had sick skills, RIP

El Prieto has one spot in particular. Half-way down, you are honking up a short hill. You crest it and the check-dam is on your left. Along with a 50' free fall.
