The guys over at Laguna are so much different. Jeff and Chris and great. They always help me out and know exactly what I'm talking about. If they don't have a part they will tell you and actually tell you what shop may have it in stock. Other shops need to take notes.

I sense a pattern here: It seems like the Performance locations that used to be Supergo shops have retained some sense of knowledgeable and respectful service, while the others...well....:?:

I have a good friend who wrenches at one of the Performance shops, so once in awhile I'll visit him at work and maybe buy some small items while I'm there, but I stick to strictly self-service kind of stuff. If I need high-end parts or knowledgeable service, I'll go to one of the several great local shops where they know their stuff and stand behind their products and service.

if you want something done about the way you are treated at performance stores or compliment help you got from them make sure you get the name of the employee, forget talking to the district manager, and just call or email performance headquarters in NC. that will be the most effective way of getting anything done.

Just spoke to John Sturgeons manager at NC corporate. Sam understood where I was coming from as the customer and would follow up and follow through with his management at tustin. It is really sad you have to go way up the chain of command for someone to understand how business works... the customer is your ultimate BOSS... they keep you in business by buying your stuff...giving you a paycheck. DUH. Respect you customers...they ultimately pay you. Thanks Sam. :)

i always say it takes months to gain a customer but it only take a second to lose one..

I live close to the tustin performance...I buy my tubes and nutrition there and that's about it. Otherwise its the Path. I don't expect much from the shop so I think its fine. Kinda like wal-mart i guess...good for the bare essentials.

This is very unfortunate to read (thread) but certainly is bound to give the shop a tune up (hope).

Nearly two years ago, I purchased a gt force and was so stoked to have a full suspension bike and it certainly change my mt. experience. Never imagined it would lead to 5plus hr rides on wknds. Yes ,I enjoy these longer rides on my Specialized pitch now but it's predecessor got me to where I'm at.

After about a half year I developed the inherent pivot creak and took my bike in on appt. Went to pick up bike on finished date only to be told they would start work tomorrow.....I began my first lesson of this kinda stuff which can be prevalent in .....some...shops. Well I was turned off and asked for my bike back, I'll go somewhere else. Got bike back with some surprised dismay on their part and went on my way.
Took bike to nearby shop and they removed and g reased bottom bracket and creak still was present and mechanic advised me that the issue is in pivots and should have selling franchise back up their product,(right thing to do), so I reluctantly went back and manager got wind I was disgruntled customer that took bike off appt. line because it was WAY botched and immediately PROMISED it would be put on a rack and remedied.

Well that was honored, I received bike later THAT day and of course they honor lifetime adjustments at no charge.

The KICKER, the manager reimbursed me outta HIS wallet when I told him I had said shop check creaks and lube bootom bracket, with CASH. THANKYOU TERRENCE(sp?)! Because of this I still buy supplements and will take gt force back for lifetime adjustments.

But I do love my Pitch!

    I hate shopping there.

"Are you a Team Performance member?"

    "No."

"Are you interested in learning about Team Performance?"

    "No."

    "Can I have your name?"

"No. I'm going to shop anonymously today. You accept cash, right?"

Visited the Pasadena store and the two guys I dealt with were great. I was just looking and ended up buying some odds and ends since they were so helpful.

Even if only half of the stories here were true about Tustin, I will never set foot in there.

A few weeks back, I bought a set of IRC Mythos tires from Performance Tustin. The rear one had a really bad wobble to it. Today they exchanged it for a new one and were pretty cool about it. I actually considered not trying to return it and just buy a different set of tires, WTF? Oh well, good job to them.:)

I'm sure we've all felt it. Walk into a LBS and the vibe is really cool. Guy walks up and asks if he can help you but doesn't become over bearing. Then again he doesn't take off to the back room either. Stays where you can ask him some questions when you're ready. If more folks show up, others appear on the floor where one guy isn't trying to take care of 4 different customers at the same time.

Some LBS's lack a soul. There's a few stores that stand out to me, The Path, Coates in Pomona, Incycle in San Dimas these are the ones that will do well too.

My question is why would you go to Performance when the Path is just up the road? I drive from Mira Loma to go to the Path.

    lol one thing is that...

the path's 2.5" tubes are twice as expensive as the forte 2.5" tubes performance sells....

maybe thats an excuse to go tubeless and go to the path more often...

I freakin hate Tustin performance. The one in Laguna Hills has always treated me well. They always match prices for me.

As for why not just go to the path: I end up at the take off wall buying things i don't "need".

A Great Experience with Performance Bikes

Performance Bikes seems to be the place we all stop at now and then, but generally like to bash. I've been guilty of that too, but this time I have to give credit where it's due: Their satisfaction guarantee is awesome, and when the right people help you, it can be a really positive experience.

2 years ago I got some lights as a gift, but I've had problems all along. I took them back once, back when I still had a receipt and the boxes, and they supposedly tested some things and replaced a charger. But the next time I used them, they went dead 10 minutes into the ride.

Well, time passed and I didn't need them that much, and I forgot to take them back. Now that we're into winter though, and I've been riding a lot, I want to hit some night rides, so I took them back to the Laguna Hills Performance (where they were bought). The manager, Rick, was super helpful. He had one of his guys do some tests, and ultimately managed to get the manufacturer to replace a battery for me. I wouldn't have surprised if any of several reasons were cited as to why they couldn't do anything for me, but instead of a hassle I got the item replaced, quickly and with good service from Rick and a couple others who were involved (sorry I don't know each of their names).

Major props for a quality customer service experience.

(Ps: Mods, I know this could go in the LBS review thread, but it was such a positive experience that I felt like it deserved it's own thread. But move away if you think it belongs elsewhere)

I've had nothing but extremely positive experiences at the Laguna Hills location especially with Rick and Tony. However, the Tustin location and the sales manager for the socal region are useless.

Stopped in at the Tustin location today for incidentals and expected the usual unhelpful, unfriendly service. WHAT A SURPRISE! This store has morphed into a cyclist-friendly, impassioned haven. Try out the "NEW" Performance.
