Hans from Bellfree Contractors has been doing an absolutely AWESOME job with new trail construction on the top of Oaks!! The Coach Whip trail (worst trail on the top IMHO) was transformed from a crappy single ridgeline trail into a 18+ switchback with jumps, drops and berms on every switchback, give it a try- it is good either up or down.
He is currently building a major bridge connecting the bottom of Coach Whip (which will be a new section) to the bottom of Yucca (with a new section). Major steel beams looks like it could handle the weight of a couple of horses at once. Looks to be about 4 ft wide and about 25 feet across. If you see Hans on the trails shake his hand and say Thanks!!
For those of you that have complained to the Rangers- go ride somewhere else!!! IMG_0208.jpg IMG_0211.jpg IMG_0207.jpg IMG_0209.jpg IMG_0210.jpg

This is in Orange behind Irvine park.

I agree Rich, it's gonna take me a bit to get used to all the new stuff but it's like a whole new park and that =FUN! Plus, it seems soo empty every time I go. I wonder if it's just the recent closures that have kept it relatively empty. Does anyone know if the entrance behind Irvine Park has been cleared and open yet? Getting tired or rolling from the school at the final Bitch.

No, I think it's in Rancho Dominguez, or maybe Pacoima.

Try rolling in from Overlook Terrace off Serrano- Heading East on Serrano go past the school for about a mile, turn right on Hidden Canyon Dr, go up and over the hill and it "T" intersects at Overlook Terrace; the trailhead from there is the Anaheim hills trail that will got to Deer or all the way to Edison Ridge- much more fun that the school entrance.!!

I thought it was in Big Bear. You go up that road and make a left at the big tree. Then when you see the toilet on the side of the road make a left down the dirt road. Go on for 79.5 miles and veer to the right a little. Keep going for another hour then BAM!!! you are almost there. At this poing you can only access the park by Kayak. I'll Let Dean give you the directions for the rest of the way.

Hugh's directions are spot on I have nothing to add. That Kayak is most necessary for Blair Witch.

I love the idea of the berms jumps and drops but having someone climbing up a trail that is designed to for downhill and speed just seems like recipie for disaster.

Hugh those sound/look like the old directions to Gooseberry. lol

I'm loving the "new" oaks. I haven't gotten used to the names yet, but I'm loving the trails.

I think Myspeedbuggie is riding with the wrong people. You simply need to ride with faster people.
