WHY do these dropouts cost 300 bucks?

im sure you could have somebody one-off them for that!

    He's over exaggerating big time. They're $250 a pair. #-o

Intense is mighty proud of those things. In other words, a busted derailleur hanger cost $125.:( This is arguably why it's a good idea to run rear derailleurs that self destruct upon looking at rocks, such as those from SRAM.

You will need a avid Boxxer adapter no matter what avid brakes you use.

You may have got the new style M6 dropouts originally and bought the old style ones. This was mentioned in the decline article that they changed the drop outs due to complaints that they were too low. They still sell the old ones but the bike comes with new ones.

If you look at the 08 geo the BB was 13.75 and the 09 geo the BB is 14.125

He had the original ones that originally came with the M6 when it was first released, then he got the ones that are now standard on the M6. When he was saying "newer ones" he's talking about the current ones. I though he may have been talking about the Slackers, which was a bit confusing for me based on his description.

Opps yeah I was thinking backwards as higher axle placement would make the BB higher.

So he would just need to get the socom/SS 150 dropouts to have the old geo back right?

    Looking pretty dope!
You may want to reroute your rear derailleur cable along the down tube like your brake line.

Now i need to work on the drivetrain by hunting down a RD, cassette, and a chainring. So close but trying to save some money right now so this may take a back seat for a week or so.

If anyone has a good recommendation for a front tire let me know. I need one of those too.

I also need to hunt down a damn boxxer adaptor for the brakes, and those who have/had this bike, what are you doing to clamp the rear wheel in? I got the "saint" hub which is ready for a 10mm thru axle so for the time being I clamped a DT Swiss RWS in there and should probably be fine with that?

RWS will be fine for holding your wheel on. I'm just running a standard QR rear wheel on my reign and it's held fine. I'm sure I'm a bit meaner to my bike than you too. if you go with an actual bolt on, it may be stiffer, but you're fine for now unless you have problems with it.

chainring: I recommend e.13 guide rings in whatever size you like. good, light, solid rings.

front tire: minion DHF 2.5 would be the way to go IMO. some people run highrollers in front, but IMO that's a very sketch tire in front. fast rolling tires are nothing if you can't turn.

    BTW: looks sick :bang:

Didn't get the brakes and the cranks have to go....

Bigger problem is that the dropouts are too wide or something, I'll get a pic if I can but the inner side of the droputs are a few mm too wide. There's about 3-4mm of space between the hub and the droput. Enough that the RWS won't clamp it.

I use a 10 mm RWS on Ko's SlopeStyle with Hadley hubs - fits fine. Make sure you're using the 'hat' shaped collared spacers. Those convert the 10 mm axle to fit in the 12 mm dropouts. Unfortunately, after 4 years, Intense still doesn't include any information about this anywhere. It's normal that the dropouts are spaced a few mm wider than the hub.

measure how wide the dropouts are and make sure it's not something missing on the hub. I've lost little reducers and bearing cones before and was wondering why the hub didn't fit. :?:

Thanks Lee, I didn't know what hat spacers you were talking about or what they were until I went looking in the baggie that was taped to the frame. The intense website is lacking for sure but everything is fine now. I got two other spacers in there that I don't what they're for.
