What was it? 15 bikers. 15 X 7 = 105.00 . I think the guy is just doing it for the love of the sport.

Welcome Dave.! My husband met you last saturday in the parking lot. Thanks for putting this together, We will be using your services on our next trip.

For what it's worth we have heard about other ventures that didn't work out but I don't know the specifics. George doesn't seem to have any problems providing shuttle service in his truck every Saturday! We have shuttled with that group before but the foul language and raunchy music was a little too much to handle for me. Good luck and we will be happy to donate $7!!! See you on the trails.

7 bucks is less then I could drive my own truck up there and back.
Heck, I'd feel guilty if I only gave you 7 dollars. I'd prolly flip you an even 10 at least.

As far as the "big bike" thing. Well bikes are bikes, they all have brakes and there is always few A holes in every group (even on XC bikes)

Some (more like a lot) of you guys dont get it. He is not trying to make a profit! I really dont think I you guys would consider making 10 bucks a profit. He is doing it because he's a great guy and its for the love of the sport. Most of the time he's losing 10 or 15 dollars. He usually gets only 7 or 8 bikes on the trailer. Sometimes he'll get 10 or 11 riders and its hapened twice or tree times where the trailer has been full. ALL THE MONEY GOES TO GAS!!!
He talks about the insurance and licenses and so on but at this point hes doing it for friends and fun and whoever wants to tag along. He rides almost everytime that he shuttles us and then someone just takes him back up. Almost all the guys are very kind to the hikers. We usually stop and wait for the hikers to pass by and sometimes they will give us the way and we slow down, and say thank you or good morning and tell them how many more there are. 95% of these guys are with big bikes.

10 of us used the shuttle last Sunday. $7 and no vehicle to fetch after the ride, priceless!!!

    The second trip

Did another big ride on Mount Wilson last saturday, and we used the 6:30 a.m. shuttle as recomended by a friend. It was Lifted quad-cab truck with 14 bikes in the rear and 10 large guys up front. I thought that kind of efficiancy was only possible in Japan. We had a great time and it was well worth the 10 bucks. Heck our buddy chad even got a free lap dance from a strange rider on the way up.

    I think that's a great point.

There are plenty of hikes in the Angeles that are made much more enjoyable by using a shuttle. If you've read John W. Robinson's Book "Trails of the Angeles: 100 Hikes in the San Gabriels," you've no doubt read about several hiking routes that require a shuttle.

    As for biker/hiker relations...
I was hiking in the Whittier hills one day...I may have even been wearing an MTB-related T-shirt...a mountain biker rode past. I served up a friendly "How's it going?" The guy totally blew me off and didn't even grunt a greeting. This helped me understand why MTB'ers get such a chilly reception from various hikers. I wanted to put a stick in the guy's spokes!

And some of you guys are worried about the van/trailer shuttle service being illegal!!!:lol:

I too have ridden in the same "shuttle" truck but couldn't stomach the foul language and music. I can take just about anything, but I felt like I needed to take a shower afterwards. ;)

Dood, I make it a point to say hello to everyone on the trail. If I am lucky, 25% provide any type of acknowledgement and most of them are MTB'ers. It's not like motorcyclists where the code is alwasy to acknowledge your fellow rider!!! ;)

If you don't live in the 910xx postal code or your telephone number does not have a 626 area code, please don't visit the San Gabs without a hall pass. Everyone needs to apply for a hall pass, otherwise the San Gabes Trail Gods and mayors will crack down on you and confiscate your bikes and parked cars. I urge you to adhere to our local laws. For starters, you can Paypal me your application fees ($500.12 for 6 months and $851.63 for an annual pass) and we'll start the filing process on your behalf. Happy trails, folks!

We'll need 2 additional forms of proof of residency. One utility bill and one credit card/bank statement/drivers license. We were born at night but not last night, pal. Ha, nice try. All lines are open so please call and get pass.

(Does anybody remember the Surf Punks from the late 70's and early 80's? Good times!)

    8/6/08 mount wilson?

Hey I was just wondering if the shuttle will be available this saturday and what time(s) it will be going up. We should have a group of about 4 people. Thanks.
