    Great find on the video.

Looks like it was filmed before the trail work was done. They'd be able to bar-drag some of the turns they skidded. Let's get another work party in there and see what we can do. Lots of deep soil moisture now, and maybe a few sandbags to help keep things stable in the long run.

That Bernat guy flies on that trail according to strava too. Think he did a 3:07 to the first sign!

Meadows is a great trail and that video really shows how great it is.

A couple of the new/improved berms done in December are around the :28 mark on vid, so it's recent. And yeah, it will need some more work. I'll just bite my tongue and not opine on the rest of the vid.

I'm sitting right behind him with a 3:08. Maybe I need to short that right turn over the bridge gap, and pickup 1 second.

Anyone interested in doing some trail work on Meadows, please give me a call at 949-456-2242. I'm thinking of going in tomorrow morning.. around 9:00 or 10:00. We have Ranger approval.
    Thanks,
    Jim aka kioti

Bummer Jim - I was volunteering for the OC Race Series being held there tomorrow but it's been canceled due to the rain. I made breakfast plans w my daughter an hour ago or I would have liked to have given you a helping hand since I'll be in OC.

    Next time??...

That's OK Rox. But I say bring her for a "unique" experience!

It may just be Ryan and me if no one else responds. Sad, because digging conditions look good and the park might even be closed (but not to us!).

BTW, I like blueberry pancakes and bacon.

Thanks again Jim for being available and willing to help when the weather serves us our rare digging conditions. Sadly I have work commitments all day today, and a daughter's 5th birthday party to prepare for tomorrow. You can see that I am doing neither right now.

The work done at the beginning of this thread is still holding strong and has made that trail a blast for the past two years. Jim knows when, where and how to dig for sustainable berms and drainage that maximizes fun for MtB that does not negatively impact other trail users. Hopefully, Laguna Canyon Foundation and SHARE went to the same school of modern trail-building, but I fear they have not. I believe those organizations still see a "perfect trail" as having a flat, gravelly surface, water bars and out-sloping for drainage. All the more reason to join IMBA, get some IMBA trail-building skills and join those other organizations. Influence from the inside.

    Thanks again Kioti!

    Mmmmmm, bacon....

"I love the smell of bacon in the morning, reminds me of.. trailwork?!?"

The bad news.. not enough of a response to do what I had planned for on Meadows.

The good news? Switched over to 5-Oaks and got A LOT done, especially near the bottom. Ryan (rynine), Dave (dcrfx) and I had a blast re-building those lower S-turns, along with some other odds and ends. Got rained on for a little while and had excellent digging conditions. Dave did some serious dirt packing, I did whatever the heck it is I do, and Ryan put the icing on the cake. It was a fine morning for trail building, and I hope you all have at least half as much fun riding it as we did digging.
